This ride quality discussion makes me miss my 2002 Super Duty; perhaps I'm suffering from selective memory but I swear it rode better than my 2008 Super Duty does. Maybe the 7.3L (much heavier than my 08's 5.4L) weight made the difference but that truck rode like big limo with less bounciness than my coil-sprung-in-front 08.
Looking forward to the day that 1-ton P/Us get full air suspensions like their class 8 big brothers run.
Your memory is not faulty. The ride of my 03 Superduty was definitely softer than my current 09. I suspect growing GVWR's every year are to blame.
True, quite likely I feel the result of increased capacity; my 08 isn't unpleasant per se but it rides less smoothly than my 02 did. What was I thinking selling that truck? LOL. (Oh now I remember...diesel was about $4.75/gal back in 2008 when I sold it...)

The new front suspension should have been installed on the 2500 '13 models as well. The bone jarring ride of the current 4 link front suspension is one of the reasons I ran away from purchasing a RAM.
I love the ride of my 11 HO Dually 4X4 even unloaded.
I suppose the HO part could make all the difference in the ride quality! :W

you are comparing the 1/2 ton trucks (Ram1500 vs F150) and not the 3/4 ton trucks, right? As the OP topic is the Ram2500 getting four link/coil suspension.

Bone jarring? Mine rides better than previous 2011 F350 when unloaded. I think that all the newer offerings from the big three HD trucks ride great for what they are. Heck, even ten years or so ago the ride was much worse.

I read about it yesterday and I found the air bags on the 3500 interesting also. I was wondering if the 2014 MY are going to use softer leaf springs for ride comfort when not towing, and air up the bags for heavy loads. I frankly don't understand adding air bags to a 3500 DRW unless something changed from the 2013 springs.
LOL on edit
I should have read your link first. Yes softer springs. I'm certainly glad they had the hitch adapter problem which resulted in me waiting till next spring to buy a new truck :B
