Hey folks looking to replace the tires I have on 08 Silverado.
I am running 225/70R19.5 Toyo M608Z with a load range of G.

Since day one I have not really liked these tires and they are worn out on less than 50K of miles and tend to wander a lot as well.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am looking for an All Weather type tire as I drive in rain and snow a lot here in the PAC NW.

I am thinking about the Bridgestone M729 anyone have experience with these?

Thanks

I just replaced a set of Dunlop 19.9' "H" rated tires with around 65,000 miles. They still showed plenty of tread but were 6 years old and dry rot was now beginning. I think that will occur in most TC rigs, age not mileage will determine usability. The Dunlops were excellent, we have traveled extensively.

I'm about ready to replace my Michelins... due to age, not wear. They've worn exceptionally well, but they are noisy and were very squirmy when new.

My next set will be Bridgestone M729F's

Costco will sell you the Michelin XD2 for the lowest price of anyone. They probably can't mount them though, so figure $100 to $150 to mount and balance a set.

Well, I can vouch for the fact that my limited snow experience with them has not been stellar. I suspect a set of chains would improve that, though. :B

Nearly every mile of my wet road experience with them has been with the camper on the truck, and I've had no complaints at all. They might perform differently unloaded, or with less weight on them.

The Conti HSR steer tires have a closed shoulder, and can be used as drive tires if desired.

I had a 08 F450 with the Continentals and they should be called Conti Slicks, handling in wet weather was terrible especially snow. Then I put on the Toyo 608Z not bad on the rear but terrible for steer tires, put Toyo 143 on the steer and what an improvement, the M920 looks good but not great. Check out the Yokohama 303s. I heard on another diesel forum that the Michelins XDS2 are noisy. I would pick a drive tire with a closed shoulder if it was mine.

I like the Conti's on my truck too. They are rated for both on and off road use, reasonably quiet, are technically regroovable, and wear well.

I just replaced the four HDR's on the rear of my truck, and they had almost 80K miles on them. They had way more than legal tread left, but they all had at least one plug in them (one tire had three), and one had a quarter-size chunk of tread missing. The tires were like that when I bought the truck, and I still put another 15k miles on them.

Before you decide on which tire you're going to buy, check the speed rating. Some of the 19.5's are kinda low.

I had the 245/70R19.5 DynaTrac PD890's on all four corners of my F250. They put out some tread noise, but ran well for me. Others have not had as good luck with these tires, so I suggest getting them locally if you decide on this tire so the shop can deal with any balancing issues instead of you you having to deal a mail order outfit. After 25K miles, the tread was still doing well even though I typically had 7000-8000 lbs on the rear axle. Just for reference: When I ran 17" and 18" wheels on this truck, I was getting 30-40K miles on a set tires since it was exclusively used for towing, hauling or skiing.

My 5500 is running the 225/70R19.5 Continental HSR up front and HDR in the rear. Steer tires up front are quieter than the traction/drive tires I ran before, but you will give up a little bit of grip for the quietness. I only have 4K miles on them, so I don't know how well the tires will wear over their lifetime.

XD2's look all right but may break the bank. LOL

Replacing them cause they are wore out.. I dont even drive the truck that much with the camper on it, so not sure what the deal is. I thought they would get more than what I did out of it. Maybe 30 thousand of those miles are with the camper on it. Very disappointed to say the least. And the majority of that was pavement. Go Figure.

The 245's will not fit, I tried them last time and I get rub on the front fender well, I dont want to chop or modify anything on the truck. I did put a Torsion bar lift on it and that didnt help either

The DH01 maybe too aggressive of a pattern for me. The HDR and HSR may be an option. How do they drive?

Thanks again

I run M608z's and am very happy with them, but may run the M920's next.

I'll probably get 50-60K out of mine, but do a lot of dirt road hauling/towing.

Have you considered a 245? They will probably ride better.

I think the Bridgestones are probably ok. Others to look at include Michelin XD2 or the Hankook DH01s if you want an agressive tire.
