1990 Bigfoot Rebuild

1990 Bigfoot 9.5C fiberglass truck camper. I bought this a few weeks ago, it was really cheap but needs work

After getting it home and looking allot closer found it needed more work then we thought. Could have sold it in Calgary, but we decided to do a restore on it. So now I am in the middle of it.
First removed 560 lbs of extra wood inside and a crappy wood floor that the PO had put in. Then we stripped all the panelling out of it, the pictures below show its current state. I have a fair amount of fiberglass work to do before I start with the wood. I am going to remove the top windows and fiberglass the holes in, as well as repair the jack mounts and a couple holes that have been put in over the years.

Now for some pics!

Way to go, uriedog. Nice to see an old Bigfoot being renovated. Interesting to see the construction used too. I like the black vinyl strip used for the horizontal joint seam. My DD gave me a roll of that stuff and I've toyed with replacing my white vinyl tape with it. Can't keep the grime off it so the black would hide it between washings. I'll be watching this thread!

Actually i did just have a spare chunk of 6x6x 1/4 wall HSS laying around. I am a welder for a company that builds oil field equipment. We toss way bigger stuff then that into the scrap.

I am currently parked on the side of a mountain in BC. About -15'c outside toasty 28'c in the camper

Its been a while since I updated this. Lots has been happening. I have been working on it at least an hour or so every day. And a few full weeekends.

New counter top, insulation, plumbing, electrical, resealed windows, installed temporary fridge, re wired converter, ran some new electrical for lights, volt meter, solar, USB charge ports.......

The frame over the table/bench area will hold Rubbermaid containers accept for the last 2 sections. That area is for drying gear.

Some more picks

That's it for now.

The front windows were cracked really bad, and leaking. They will only end up all broken again so I pulled them out and glassed in the holes. Plus I remember it being a big heat loss on my last TC.

Nice door you built there CaveRun. I will probably do something similar

Need to keep that heat in. We will only use this TC in the winter (for snowboarding) and often see temps down to -28'c at night.

I did not like my kitchen faucet. Too often it was necessary to tilt a pot to get it under the faucet. I replaced it with a residential faucet. I also mounted my Microwave under the cabinet.

so far work left to do

rebuild entrance door, and make one for the bathroom.

My TC door needed replaced, I checked online and couldn't believe some doors was $1,000 dollars!

The factory doors don't have enough wood in them!..IMHO!

Here's a thread on the door that I built!

The door I built is solid! :)... It keeps the camper a lot warmer too!

Here's what I used to skin the door.

Nice under-sink plumbing work.

I was going to suggest replacing the marker lights, but you did that already.
A friend used these and really likes them.
