They both have their place in the scheme of things. Both do the job extremely well. I cant wrap my mind around some of the towing figures that Ford puts out. Sorry. And they need to come up with a better warranty. Call me old school but when or if I get a new truck it will be a Ford 6.2 or Ram 6.4.

๐Ÿ™‚ Hi, I know the feeling; I can't own a hot car because I would also get a bunch of tickets. I still don't know what the power in my truck is like because I haven't found a place or situation where I could floor it. I guess I will just have to wait until we plan a trip and pull my trailer with it for the first time.

Not sure why you think I'm complaining, the Ecoboost is one fast engine. As it should be with two mini turbos spooling up!

As I said before, I tosted a F-150 EB off the line in my Ecodiesel, but he walked by me like I was standing still by time I was in fourth gear. No doubt about it, they are fast, but as soon as you start using that boost your fuel mileage goes right in the toilet.

Don

Momma had given me the green light to buy a SRT Challenger if i wanted. Just could not see myself not getting a boat load a tickets in that thing and having to sell it to pay the fines and insurance. Just like most Ecoboost owners, you just can't help yourself.

Heck, I got a ticket in the new truck two weeks ago, this thing rides so much smoother than my 2500 04 Ram that you don't realize you're going as fast as you are.

Finally, a competition where the Ram fanboys won't complain about the unfair advantage their truck had with the 3.92 gears as opposed to the 3.55 gears in the F-150.

Love that the driver can't help but smile in the ecoboost about half way thru the run, while in the ecodiesel he seems... well... a bit bored. 11 seconds is pretty pedestrian, wonder if it would improve any at sea level vs. a mile high?

I doubt the results would be much different at sea level.

Yes these trucks are not similarly equipped so you have to form your own conclusion. Having said that It's probably very difficult for these auto guys to get exact equipped trucks.

No it's not, that event was a Ford sponsored event Troy and you know that. They had 5 different Rams and five different GM or Chevy trucks. Notice the truck that they us for the drag race was a blue Outdoorsman with 3.55 gears. The truck they used for the MPG segment was a Laramie Longhorn with the 3.92 gear in 4X4.

Every Manufacture is going to make sure their vehicle comes out on top. Funny they only ran a 1/8 and not a 1/4 mile LOL. Ford marketing, OK our truck looks really really good in the 1/8 mile run so lets use that. The up side is most of the sheep will never question it and think it ran a 6 second 1/4 mile run.

OK go ahead and flame me.

Don

OK Don... I give up! I'm with you and I'll call it a Ford sponsored event too.

I did notice on the instant fuel economy reading on both trucks was: Ford ~ 20 mpg and RAM 24 mpg. And yes both trucks grills look very nice I must add.

Are you saying that it takes a Super Charged V8 RAM to spank a 2.7 Eco Boost?

BTW... It would be cool if SRT would produce a Hellcat truck. I suppose there's one in the skunk works if the need arises. ๐Ÿ™‚

Interesting - I hate it when don't compare like trucks though. The Ford was a short box extended cab and the Ram was a full crew. Even if it didn't make a difference it still bugs me.

2.7L ecoboost looks like quite the power plant. Surprised it's only rated at 23mpg in 4x4. That's where the ecodiesel is going to beat it at it's 27-28mpg.
