I see talk about 20" tires. the ram I am looking at comes with
LT285/60R20E OWL tires. are these as good for towing as 18"

both are E rated, but I do see a shorter sidewall

Well if you can live with Granite Crystal, take a look at this one.

http://www.chrysler.com/hostd/windowsticker/getWindowStickerPdf.do?vin=3C63R3EL1FG590857

It is at John Elway in Greeley, Co. We just bought a truck configure exactly the same for $53,555. They also have a Blue Streak Pealcoat one.

I'll bet any modern tire/wheel combination will corner better than a Model A's regardless of the aspect ratio.

I wonder how long a wooden spoke wheel would last on a modern Ram CTD?

But why stop at 21"? The covered wagons had wheels much larger than that and steel belts too!

yeah those ole covered wagons... back in the Model A/T days not many paved roads... those old things could go through some fairly deep snow/mud, todays 15/16/17 and even to some degree the 18 and 20" wheels would have a hard time doing the same...something to do with width... :B

Agreed. Skinny tires rule!

white--silver---red
these are the options right now. my rep will call tomorrow.
these 3 are the SLT and I just found some of the tradesman that would save me 7400 dollars. there are quite a few of them.
can pick up a tradesman for 39,999

I have found 1 with the Aisin but it is expensive for 12,000 GVRW.

nothing wrong with 20" wheels, gotta wonder how all those nay sayers would react to Ford's, Model A and Ts, running on 21" wheels from Henry's factory? :B

P.S. those same tires would have had some pretty narrow side walls as well...

I'm sorry, but had to LOL when I saw that. ๐Ÿ™‚

I imagine you meant they were heavier because they were bigger.

I have 20" tires on my Super Duty and really like them and they also make the truck look really good.

On a Ram truck I think the 20" tires look too big since the truck package is smaller so the tire look out of proportion.

Having said that the OD for a 20" and 18" tire I believe are ~ the same. The 20" tires have less side wall which makes the truck handle better and the rims are heavier due to more mass.

20s are as good or better for towing than the smaller rims due to less sidewall flex (theoretically). But having 17s and now 20s same truck, same camper, very similar load ratings. Both 34" tires, I can say it doesn't matter.
Get the dubs if you like them!

thanks, was concerned about carry capacity. with a shorter sidewall, was worried about pothole damage. seem like either are going to work

20" tires on current F350 and on previous F350 both towing 35' 5er. No problems at all. I like the 20" wheels appearance. But yes the tires are more expensive.
