2009 trade for 2006???

See signature for my current truck. 6.0L gas. Love the truck BUT like most always wanted the diesel experience. Local dealership has a 2006 Chevy Silverado 6.6L with Allison trany. 94k miles. My truck has 61K miles. Last week I opened the rear door and when I shut it there was water inside the door. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT GOT INSIDE THE DOOR. Inside was dry but water came pouring of it. Mysteries of life I guess. Mine is LTZ vs. 2006 LT.

Price wise...I would say it would cost me $1000 at most. I have not seen the 2006.

Let me have it. Take a look? Keep mine for sure? Make the trade if possible?

Thanks!

I went this morning and looked at the truck prior to the dealership opening. Bed must have been in a mess cause it had a new looking spray liner. Hood needed to be repainted. I decided since my 2009 still looks new (according to one of my students) that I would keep semi-looking. Thanks for the details and advice. I learned what to look for and not. That was the reason I asked.

An 06 has the transfer case pump rub issue. Check for leaks and do the fix (many kits available). May have been fixed already. As said the 06 lly engine was a detuned lbz. VERY reliable.

According to the Carfax it was purchased new in October 2005. 16,000 miles had a "no start/hard start check". Nothing else noted.

"The LBZ (engine code "D") debuted in late 2006 and continued into 2007 sold only in the "classic" body style. It has an improved engine computer tune that produces increased power and torque over the 2005.5 LLY version of the motor."

The LLY was never a troublesome engine in 06. Same EXACT motor as the LBZ except the tune.

What about mpg difference, if any? I get 8-9 now pulling 5th wheel.

I get 12.0 towing a 7K 28' TT at 70 to 80 MPH. If I went down to 55 to 60 I would get 13+.

The 2006 and 2007 Classic GM Duramax is highly desirable in the market. If you want a diesel, that's a great one to try. But it is the GMT800 generation compared to your GMT900. Are you willing to give up some of the advances as well as equipment of your LTZ?

Are you referring to the transmission?
