:S :R, You must have missed the part where I said:

"Again, go to some forums and look for common problems."

There is a BIG difference between: "My oil cooler hose weeps" and "a valve head just fell of the stem and destroyed my engine."

Or "my left hand fog light does not work" and "my turbo had to be replaced for the 3rd time."

Or "my DEF gauge is not registering right" and "my truck told me to pull over, it stalled along side the road and now it won't start."

Or "I have a steering clunk" and "my engine just blew up."

I will let you try and figure out how to match which complaint comes from which forum. :B

Again, you can find some pretty serious issues with every brand. I guess when your number 1 people find time in their busy (or not so busy?) schedules to come out of the woodwork. It might be hard for you to understand but the vast majority of Ford owners are very happy and it is the best truck they have ever owned. I'm not brand loyal and have had at least one of each brand and had good luck with them all.

It seams as though those who own a new Ford say it's the best truck they have ever had. Those who have never driven one, have read of rickatics horror story and believe they are a POS. We have a 2010 GM which has been a pretty good truck and a 2011 Ford. We are planning on replacing the GM this winter and it will likely be with another Ford. We are taking serious look at the Ram though.

This is close to as silly of a post as the "I belong to many diesel forums and never heard of any radiator problems with the 6.7" post. :R

Does this guy say it's the best truck he has ever owned?

Again, go to some forums and look for common problems. Or go talk to Ford techs and see what problems they work on most. I'll tell you right now it isn't the HPFP; although there has been quite a few of those that went bye, bye.

I have owned all of the big three. I am as brand blind as it gets... My next one may well be any of them or a Toyota if they were to make a big truck.

You are sort of correct!

The big deal part of it is the cost if Ford refuses warranty coverage!

I sold my '11 F450 just recently. But that was because we sold the Cyclone as well and I really didn't need a dually anymore. The guy wanted both truck and camper so who am I to stop him. :B

But that being said, I was more than pleased with my 6.7. Had it over two years and 20,000 miles and it was perfect. I also had an auxiliary tank which some say invites water into the fuel. Never an issue.

Some extra notes though. I always had my Ford dealer service the vehicle, used PM-22 at every tankful, and always bought fuel at popular outlets where the fuel stayed fresh.

When its time to buy another diesel, it'll be at the top of my list. My opinion is the whole HPFP thing is not as big as it is made out to be on forums. Best of luck.

I have owned, currently own, and have driven MANY Fords. This includes the more relevant 2010 and 2013 F350DRW diesels (6.4 and 6.7), on the job. While these newer Fords are certainly NICE trucks, inside and out (these King Ranch trucks were as nice or nicer inside than any Caddilac or Town Car I've been in), and much more POWERFUL than my not so new Fords, these new 6.7 trucks are still ticking time bombs, which I have no desire to OWN. They are fun to drive when they're not mine and the risk of ownership is on someone else's head, who can afford to shell out $10K to fix a warranty-denied breakdown. ๐Ÿ™‚

With the new 12K+ GVWR numbers on the 3500SRW Dodges, I would very seriously consider a 3500SRW Dodge diesel, instead of the F350SRW gas 6.2/4.30, if I was looking for a new SRW 1-ton to replace my crew cab. I'd rather have a diesel than gas, but don't want Ford's diesel, even though I like the rest of the truck, minus the grille assembly. Now that Dodge is actually in the same ball park, payload-wise, with their new SRW trucks, they look pretty tasty to me!

Of course, it's all theoretical for me, since I dont have the ca$h to buy any of them, and have no desire to go into that much DEBT over a truck, when I already own outright enough trucks that work fine for me. It is nice to dream a little though. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry to get off topic but search for posts by forum member killerbee; he's a DMax guru and from what I understand he can make your overheating issues go away.

I made the recommendation based solely on his rep on RV.net; never met him, don't know his work personally, and if there's more to the story I am in the dark on it.

head over to the diesel place and do a search. You'll have plenty of reading on how he screwed people out of money and bulled his way through hack tuning.

Did not know the 05's overheated.....had one, until a week or so ago. sold it......good truck, just do not need a crew cab dually anymore. If you want an overheating GM diesel, try out the pre 97 6.5diesels........had a 96, now that was one overheating SOB! Still wish I had the truck tho. Put dual t-stats, and the post 97 high flo waterpump, overheat issues went away!

I'll still take the one that fits my butt best.....ie the 96 over the 05, and now my 2000 is my main driver..........Besides, I like the 90's body style better than the new heavy duty ones.
