2014 Nissan Titan PRo-4X

We own a 29' TT that weighs 7100 pounds dry. For our first season we used a 2008 Tahoe as our tow vehicle, travelling no more than 100 miles. While the Tahoe had enough power is was not a very stable towing vehicle.
We have found a 2014 Nissan Titan Pro-4X with low mileage at a good price. It is rated for 9300 pounds and has leaf spring in the rear. It also has some off-road features that are not relevant.
Does anyone have any experience with this make and model as a tow vehicle? The power is there, but will it give us the stability we are looking for?

Here are some updated numbers:
Truck Payload is rated at 1644 pounds
Dry Trailer tongue weight is 704 pounds

Correction I stated earlier the dry weight of the trailer was 7100, it is actually 6400 pounds. (I noticed when I was looking for the tongue weight)
for what it is worth the cargo capacity of the trailer is rated at 2400 pounds, though I cannot imagine ever taking that much with us.

The biggest issue I see for you is the receiver rating. IIRC Nissan rated the max tongue weight at 940 lbs.

7,100 lbs dry will be 8,000-8,500 loaded. 8,500 x .15 = 1,275 lb tongue weight. Now that's about a max and if you can get close to 10% you would be in the receivers rating..just most TT's land in the 13-15% tongue weight range.

I personally think you would be better served by a 3/4 ton truck. That way you don't have to count the potatoe chips in the truck.

The Titans are really nice trucks and should serve you well otherwise, if you can manage the weights.

How do we know he is under the payload and tongue weight ? Do we know what the payload is for the truck ? Do we know what the actual tongue weight of the trailer is ?

My bet is in the real world when it's all hooked up and ready to go camp, he will be over those limits, but at this point it's just a guess.

And for towing that kind of weight, I'd want more gear than 3.34 in the rear, especially when you only have a five speed trans.

Just curious, why do you say that? He's under the truck rating for payload, tongue weight and towing capacity.

I have been towing with 08 Titan for five years. Only problem ever-shredded the differential in Tennessee. Fortunately it was covered by extended warranty--Dealer replaced the entire rear axle. Bought used at 28k miles, Now at 136k miles. In Arizona at the moment, pulling the Rockwood in signature and Suzuki and generator in the bed. About 9.0 average for fuel on this trip from just north of Kansas City.

that's a lot of trailer for that truck. At least the good news is it's a Pro4-X which gives it slightly lower gearing. Having said that it's still not really "low" gearing and that is just a five speed transmission.

Should be pretty close to the same. I think the extra length of the Titan will make it a little better than the Armada as a tow vehicle.
