2014 RAM Nav question

I'm still figuring out all the ins and outs of a 2014 RAM 3500 that I bought a few months ago.

This morning I was wondering about the Navigation system. Where does it store the maps? The only other vehicle we've owned with a nav system was a 2008 Mazda and the maps were in the trunk on a DVD. Where does the Uconnect system store these maps? My maps seem pretty current. Do they update themselves automatically?

Yup

Used to be, the nav system was Garmin based, might still be, dunno?

You could load custom POI and other stuff from Garmin Basecamp on an SD card or USB stick, plug that into the Uconnect and it would display on the Nav. This is not the same as a map update, but might work for some.

1) I dunno if they self-update. As the Uconnect system requires updates via USB, I think not, although it is 3G capable - so it might be possible.
2) Internal storage. No DVDs.

Updates are here:
