2015 Lance 1172 - Lockout

Ok so I've stumped the dealership so I'll try here....The other day when taking the 1172 off the truck the remote for the camer started acting like the battery was dying. So I brought it home and changed the battery and went back out today to test everything and nothing happened!!! It appears it has to be synced again but the problem is the owners manual is in the camper and all the slides are closed! On top of that no one can tell me where the pairing button is located (I'm praying it's not in the camper somewhere!!!). So does anyone know where the pairing/learning button is to sync the wireless remote on these new 1172s?

Don't feel bad. When I was a restaurant manager, I called in a repairman to take a look at our grill, because it wouldn't fire-up in the morning. Well, it really helps to have the grill plugged in!!! Of course you can imagine the pain in explaining the bill to my boss. The real kicker is, I made the same foolish mistake twice!! I'm far too human.

Trust me - anytime something doesn't work, my first questions are:
- Is it plugged in?
- Are the batteries in good condition?
- Does it have fuel in the tank?

Learning how to manually operate the slides, where certain controls reside, are things worth knowing before hitting the road on a big trip. On my way home from Tucson with my brand new Lance, my slide failed to go back in after a rest stop. Lucky for me, the dealer showed me where the control board was. I swapped the aux for the slide to an unused aux port and pressed it's corresponding button on the remote. Worked! When I got home, Lance sent me a new control board and a new remote. Just want to mention that as they do fail!

Whew! Glad you got things solved.

Sometimes it is the most simple thing, but always, it is something we've overlooked.

Well obviously I was lacking in the attention to detail department and when I thought I'd turned on the battery discount I'd actually deactivated it and vice versa...bottom line dealership said changing the battery wouldn't cause the pairing to be lost. So once the camper actually had power all was fine!! But lots of lessons learned...the pairing switch for the new controller is under the set to the cabover bed, and I figured out how to manually override the two slides. So not a total loss...anyway thanks for all the help everyone!

Sorry, I missed that you have Atwood's newest model remote. I'm not familiar with it.

I hope you get it figured out soon.

Make sure the 'brake' switch, next to the 'wake' button isn't accidentally switched. I've done that a couple times.

Also, you can manually operate the slide so you can fit in there. It takes a large Allen head. I got a set that is a socket so I can run it with a speed wrench or my battery operated drill. Just be sure to flip that same 'brake' switch or you will have trouble with the manual operation of the slide. ;

From Buzzcut's post: "The jacks are operated with a hand held remote
control. To activate the remote, locate the remote
activation switch, which is located at floor level near
the entry door. Press the โ€œWAKEโ€ button on the
activation switch. This will awaken the system and
the red ACTIVE LED will illuminate."

I assume (but you know what that means) that you tried steps one and two? I think that should do the "pairing".

Make sure you are near the receiving unit antenna.

The new remote that came with our Lance. There aren't any ports anywhere on the device....and as you can see it refers to a relay device on the back that must be activated to learn....any new owners know where that is????

There isn't a switch to activate the jack....as I said before this is a new controller and setup...

Bypass the "wireless" feature by plugging in the remote. It uses a single pin wire, similar to how you can plug an ipod into a car stereo. The jack should be right next to the jacks activation swith in the camper. Then you can troubleshoot pairing them up.

Years ago, in a campground. We had a Pace Arrow 34ft. A neighbor kid was in our coach and locked the door on his way out. We were having a fire and the kids wanted smores. So my daughter who was 11 at the time couldn't get in. I didn't have a key etc, no windows open. I went up on the roof and took a vent off and lowered my daughter thru the vent. She grabbed the smores and came out. I know it doesn't help you, but it's a great memory for me. My daughter is 22 now and graduates from the university next sat.
Good luck with your issue, and your camper is awesome.

Throwing a child inside might be a possibility if the manual would help...it appears the online manual is still the old type of Atwood controller and not the new one!! Our last two Lances had the activation switch by the door, however on the new 2015s they don't! The new controller doesn't require that step so the above directions won't help any. This controller controls the jacks as well as the slides and there isn't an external port even if I could find a direct connection from camper. I think Ive figured out how to open the slides via manual override so then all I have to do is find the learn button!

The dealer should be able to use "dealer tech service" directly with Lance to find out. Or send a small kid in to retrieve the manual.
Best of luck. Thank you for your service to our great country!
