2015 Ordered!

I have been pretty happy with my 2010 F150. It has taken us across the country, with little issue towing a 7400# trailer. The issues started this year. The pinion seal has been replaced three times in 8 months, the clutch pack once as well. It needs it again, ugh! I was side-swiped by a van in mid-November, causing $5,200+ in damage. I still have warranty for another 6 months/15,000 Kms. I do not want to deal with this after that.

I really liked the Atlas concept from Ford. I was happy to hear, many of the features and technology would make it into the 2015. I don't need or want all the bells and whistles. In fact, I do need the 6th seat offered by the front bench seat, so an XLT is the highest trim package I could go with. I have been following the updates, and had a pretty good idea of what I wanted.

Last week, I was at the dealership, getting the quote for the repairs to my truck. I stopped in to see my salesman, and we went through the 2015 ordering guide. It seems as though, whenever I put something in the bed, it stuck out the back, so I went with the longer bed this time. I was getting tired of having to clip on my CIPA towing mirrors to my current truck, and the new mirrors are a different shape, so I would have had to order new ones. I decided to go with the tow mirrors. They manually fold/telescope, have heat, and turn signals, and now include the LED spotlights. Max Tow and Max Payload should handle my trailer just fine. Shortly after, I was approved to finance, and had my A-Plan PIN. In 6-8 weeks, I will be the proud owner of a 2015!

Here is what I ordered:
2015 XLT, SuperCrew, 4X4, 3.5L EcoBoost, 6.5' bed
Bronze Fire
Max Tow & HD Payload
Tow Mirrors & Rear View Camera

According to the Ford Charts, as this truck is built:
Payload @ 2,650#
Towing @ 11,500#

What does the Max Payload package get you on the 2015 models? It doesn't look like the 7 lug axles are available anymore. I'd be interested in comparing a Supercab 6.5' with Max Tow against a Supercrew 6.5' with Max Payload/Tow.

OH48Lt - You are correct, it is actually called the HD Payload Package. Now includes 3.73 electronic locking diff, 9.75" gear set, upgraded springs, aux trans oil cooler, 18" aluminum wheels.

The HD Towing package includes Class IV trailer hitch receiver (with the new frame design, there is an integrated drop down for the hitch), upgraded front stabilizer, upgraded rear bumper, integrated trailer brake controller, 4 & 7 pin trailer harness, Smart Trailer Tow Connector (provides feedback on trailer lighting, brakes, even battery condition).

The mirrors are a separate option this time around. I don't care if I have turn signals and spotlights in the mirrors. I do like the other options - heat, puddle lamps, and the convex mirror combo are nice. I consider upgrading the mirrors on my current truck every Spring, when camping begins, and I need to fumble with the CIPA mirrors.

Between A-Plan and other incentives, I saved $9,800!

Smart move getting the HD payload package. With a trailer the size of yours and even a moderate load in the bed you could easily max out most half ton trucks. Nice to see that Ford is offering the HD package in a shorter bed truck. congratulations on the new truck / Skip

Seems like very few people order the HD version of the F150. The Max Tow package by itself is not it, maybe they call it the Max Payload for 2015? It came with the towing mirrors, beefier springs, 7 lug wheels, and some more stuff. You're most of the way there, with the 3.5 Eco and 6.5 bed. Should be a real nice truck.

Wish I could get another A plan. It saved me almost $11K on my 2005 F250 diesel.

The 3.5L Ecoboost is listed in his new signature! Looks like it will be a nice truck!

Have fun with the new truck!

My boss just bought one of the Supercab F-150 4X4 and bought a 2014 to get the highest rebates. I kept telling him because he did not want to tow anything, that the 2.7L Ecoboost will save $500 a year in gas alone! And in 10 years, I think that the 2014 will not be worth nearly as much, the 2015 probably worth about $5,000 - $8,000 more than the older model. . . Because of the aluminum body and higher fuel mileage of the later model and lighter weight trucks!

Have fun camping!

Sounds nice! I keep thinking about an Ecoboost F150 with LB and HD payload. Anxious to see the pics!
