Only three problems with the new truck:
1. Wish the 350 SRW came with an 11.5" rear end not 10.7" like Dodge and GM. I overload on our ranch on a weekly basis.
2. Like the new Duramax, the new engine is too quiet. I don't want a 6.0 clatter, but some noise is reassuring.
3. Too expensive. Holy **** these things cost an arm and a leg. Suppose that's 2017 class 3 truck buying for ya.
I really want my forever truck for my upcoming birthday present to myself. If I had the money I'd buy one of each as the Ford, the Dodge (I'm still calling it that, okay) and Chevy make tremendous 1-tons. If I were going dually the choice would be simple as the wide track front end on the F450 is tremendous, unique and a deal maker for me. But as my daily driver I want a SRW, especially with the F550 tatty but still mostly alive and kicking for the really big jobs.
I hope this post won't get bashed as a waste of time. I merely wanted to show that, unlike all too many here, I'm not a brand worshipping sheep. I've slammed Ford for their 6.0 and 6.4 engine disasters, and for running the same floppy frame for 25 years when the others changed theirs. But now, I think the Super Duty is top of the pile. Engine, frame, interior the whole kit and caboodle is top notch.
It's likely going to come down to what 1-ton SRW 4x4 diesel I can get the best deal on. I know whether it's the 2017 GM Duramx, Dodge Cummins or Ford PSD anyone who owns one is one lucky SOAB.

The loaded Ford SRW trucks have been just a little more expensive than the loaded dually. I'm not certain if this is still the case for 2017 but it makes sense that it would be.
Why would the SRW be more expensive than a DRW?

7.3 was great if you kept under 10K towing , over that they struggle a bit in the mountains. That was my take with nearly 16 years of ownership with my 99
Of course I didn't pull any tree stumps out, so can't comment on that.

Yes the 7.3L was by far the best diesel engine Ford ever put in a pickup. I tried to find a cherry 7.3L Lariat dually before buying my current truck without success. Enjoy your truck and don't ever sell it! 🙂

I did, the sticker was $74250, there isn't a ford option this truck doesn't have. 2017 jumped up a bit from my 2016, that was why I didn't wait the few months for a 17.

On the 2015 RAM it was bought and paid for before we got on the plane to fly from Seattle to Denver. Internet sales lady picked us up the next morning at the Motel near the airport and drove us a hour to Greeley to complete the paper work. Left dealership and drove 407 miles the first afternoon, 660 the next day and 350 the third, arriving home in 48 Hours door to door with two nights motel receipts.
AND IT WAS FUN. Cruising for hours at 80 MPH(think 3:42 gears and two OD ratios) in Western Wyoming and Eastern Utah while learning about all the bells and whistles.
BTW we had enough air miles to fly out first class!
Only bummer was the dealer was a kid I baby sat years ago did and he not come in to meet/greet us. You all know this kid AKA John Elway. Chris
