Once the VIN number is issued, you can get a pretty good idea of which week the truck will be built by looking at the Ford scheduling plan issued by "Ice-Capades" on the Blue Oval forum site. The week the VIN is issued will allow you to get info on the approx. build week. Your dealer should be able to tell you too. Waiting for the VIN to be issued is the toughest part after the order has been submitted. lol With the electronic parts shortages these days, build dates are moving or just a long way out.

To give you a rough idea of timing, I ordered my 2021 on Oct 20. The VIN number was issued several days later since the dealer had an open allocation. (If they don't, it can take weeks for the VIN to be issued.) Build date was December 15th and it was at the dealer just before Christmas. Ford is switching over to the 2022 build now and parts are a bear to get so things may be pushed out a little more.

I like your thinking... can't afford it, but still like it.

You've got that 2021 worn out already? :B

Almost ordered a 2021-2022 7.3 Lariat. Decided to hold out another year for the 2023. Odds are Ford will release their next gen HD's in 2023. Hoping the next gen HD's have substantially different front-end sheet metal vs. the new 2021-2022 F150. Not fond of the new F150 front-end.

There's an odd behavior with the sync 3 screens. I have the same issue on my F150, but turning down light level all the way down, and then adjusting it back up seems to help.

I have the sync 3 and do not like the screen at night, they need a dimmer or auto dim with the headlights.

Our 2018, Sync 3 dims when the lights are on and we sometimes turn it further down by rotating the dash dimmer .

Will it have a interior upgrade?

The 2022 basically goes unchanged for 2022 ... about the biggest difference is that sync 4 is now included with some trim levels.

Sync 4 with a larger screen...

I ordered a 2021 F-350 back in January. The dealer told me that, annually, there is a cutoff date when orders have to be in, then there are a few months that orders just basically sit. He told me that ordering a 2022 and hoping for September delivery would be "optimistic". He also told me that, in the model I ordered, there were basically no changes, so I ordered the 2021.

As of Tuesday, my truck was on a train car. Hoping for delivery this week.

He's kind of right. The dates are published well in advance, and they are generally locked in stone. Ford just slipped their scheduling date one week. If I understand the scheduling process, retail customer orders get scheduled first. My order was in the day the order bank opened.

I'm expecting a late summer delivery, and waited for the 2022, to get the new 12" center stack screen with sync 4. Packages were modified slightly moving some stuff around.

There is a huge delay for auto manufactures on chipsets from China. COVID slowed down lots of production on electronics and one is effecting the Auto industry very bad. I have read some reports that manufacturers expect very long delays in delivering new vehicles this year due to this.

I work in a similar industry and we use components also found in cars and trucks. We are expecting a very long delay, mostly because we don't order the quantities of a GM or Ford. This after having to deal with similar delays in 2020, we just got back to normal delivery times, now this...

scheduling is supposed to start 4/15.

I'm hoping for a late summer delivery.
