I'm not sure raising the bar means copying the 1990's Chevy S10 cameo rear style bumper, Fords drivetrain, and Rams rear suspension so not sure about raising the bar until we start seeing some real reviews.

Reliability is one of the few (if not only) reason why any one would buy a Tundra in 2020 / 2021. Other than that the domestics are better in almost every other way.

The Land Cruiser is discontinued for sale in the United States. Maybe Toyota concluded Americans won't pay the big bucks for a vehicle with a V6.

More like Toyota finally caught up with Ford, about 10 years later. The hybrid model has (very) slightly more power and torque than Ford's PowerBoost, but fails on two key points- Toyota's in only available in its top of the line trims while Ford's is available in all trims. Also, the Toyota doesn't provide a generator option, which IMO is one of the most appealing features of Ford's hybrid pickup platform. Toyota makes a great product, but there's a reason that roughly 8 F150s are sold to every Tundra.

Personally I have always enjoyed the big three. However two years ago my wife and I purchased a 2019 Toyota Sienna and it has been great! What's important too is the dealership / maintenance has been great to work with. As my F350 has gotten older, and the used market is HOT I am seriously considering selling the F350 and looking into a Tundra.

I don't tow anything heavy anymore, doesn't fit in my garage. Realistically for what I do if the payload numbers on a CrewMax limited are around 1700-ish I may be ordering one of these in the next year or two.

^ I totally agree with your assessment of the present and future of vehicles. And maybe Yoda won't lose any sales. And they're the second ones to the table with a V8 killer turboed 6, beating the other mfgs to the punch if you don't count the little chevy motor.
But just because it's the future, doesn't mean it's the present and I'd wager a fair sum tht there are still more V8 1/2 tons sold than small turbo engines.
Keep it as an option is all I'm saying.
