'22 Powerstroke seems a little thirstier than the '21 was.

I'm getting the idea that my '22 F350 (which should be exactly the same truck as my '21) uses at least 15% more fuel than my 21 did. I calibrated the fuel meter on the '21 but I'm not confident that I have the '22 set right ... I haven't filled the truck using a legal for trade meter yet. Filling only to the first click off, the meter I have been using just told me it took 132.5 litres to fill my 128 Litre tank (I figured I had 2 litres remaining so 126 litres is what I was expecting). Has anyone put more than 128 litres/34 US gallons in their 128 litre/34 gallon tank? Even if my pump meter is out 5% I'm feeling quite confident that my '21 was consistently getting better fuel economy.

Is it possible the pump isn't calibrated properly? I know they are supposed to be routinely certified but I can almost guarantee that some pumps dispense an actual amount that is less than what it says and as a result you pay for more fuel than you actually got.

^^^ The chances of me owning this one much beyond the break in period is slim … the next one is on order. My ‘21 did 12 litres per 100 on the 150 km drive home from the dealership (hand calculated). It made as good as 11 litres per 100 km on some highway trips when driving 62 mph. Because I have been filling the ‘22 from a bulk diesel tank without a calibrated meter I can’t be 100% certain of its fuel economy but It ran out of fuel at 1 km to empty and 910 mostly highway km on a full tank of fuel. Assuming a full tank of fuel is 128 litres it got 14 litres per 100 km.

But good job running your truck to empty, what sounds like intentionally.
Guess the fuel system ain’t much of a concern if you also don’t change the oil though…

I haven’t filled a Ford from dead empty, but can say my “24 gal tank” in my Chevy holds 24.4 gallons when it is bone dry aka run out of fuel. How I know is not to be discussed, lol!

Just needs a good coat of wax, to glide through the air with less resistance.
