9,200 BTU AC and 2000 watt genny

DH and I are considering a generator for our truck camper. I called Wise Sales today and talked to a woman and she told me that it would be on the edge. She said that with the AC and the inverter in camper running, it wouldn't be enough generator using a 2000 watt. I could of swore that I read here that some people do it. We always camp with hookup but was considering the beach or in my elderly parents yard. Our AC is a Coleman Mach and I emailed company to make sure of the btu. Any thoughts? Yea, I know how rude it is to run one close to camping neighbors so I can do without those comments. Just sayin....

We also have the 9200 Polar Cub Mach AC and a Honda 2000. It runs the AC pretty much anywhere just fine and our LED lighting and short time water pump But NOT that and the microwave at the same time for more than a couple minutes before the warning comes on the generator. Run the fridge on propane at those times and water heater is manual gas. The TV and satellite receiver don't seem to bother it at the Dame time as the AC either. As we don't have a battery to charge or inverter to run there isn't as much draw. The Honda starts at 2000w but runs at 1600 to 1800 so watch those numbers. It's really not that big a deal to turn off the AC for a couple minutes to do something else that requires more power. At least not to us.

I have the mach cub and run it with a Honda 2000.

She is right. If the battery is super low the converter can use half the available power. Solution is to let the battery charge for an hour then start the air conditioner. Any other high draw item such as electric water heat, microwave, hair drier used with the air conditioner may overload the generator.

I can run the Polar Cub 9200 ac on my Honda 2000 with a couple of lights on, fridge on propane and nothing else running and have done so at 8000 feet. however that is an older model AC not a Mach model
