A/C Question

When we bought our current TT, the dealer suggest we always run the fan on high to prevent the unit from "freezing up" and not working. It has been a while, but I do not recall this being an issue in previous TT. Is freezing up usually a concern?

First go up inside and examine the position of the freeze sensor.
s/b right on the evaporator fins.

Then check how well the plenum baffle separates the in from out. Frequently they are not well sealed and allow air to circulate internally and get super chilled.

Yes the evap coil can freeze up........there's even a 'ice probe' on the evap coil to sense freezing and shut down compressor so ice can melt.

Dirty evap coil, low air flow (dirty return filter), low fan speed, high humidity.....all CAN cause freezing.

Running on high fan moves the most air and that is what counts when cooling the rig down. Low fan can be used when outside temps drop off.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

I've never had the problem either and it seems if everything is working correctly it shouldn't freeze up.

Sometimes at night I run A/C on low, and never been a problem yet. I believe the main thing is to keep the coils clean so you get good air flow across them ๐Ÿ™‚

Its never happened to mine, but I always run it on high. Seems like it shouldn't matter if the ac is working properly.
