Air braked Truck Brakes for a 13,000lb Off Road Caravan

Defintely this is the heaviest Off Road Caravan built, basic weight is 10,000lbs, overall weight 13,000lbs yes it is the Gall Boys again.
"The truck air brakes were incorporated into Kedronโ€™s latest โ€˜ALSโ€™ auto-levelling airbag suspension, with the monster van hooked up to the Chevrolet Silverado โ€˜duallieโ€™ tow vehicle via a 6000kg-rated pintle hook hitch with Airsafe shock absorber attachment to help smooth out the ride and red and blue โ€˜air brakeโ€™ hoses to feed the brakes.

The new six-tonne rating adds to a long list of industry โ€˜firstsโ€™ for the ground-breaking 26ft Kedron van, which include โ€˜Koolthermโ€™ roof insulation, 500 litre-plus water carrying capacity, four picnic tables, a chilled water tap, heated lounge seats, and a โ€˜solarโ€™ front window awning.
The rolling chassis will also feature Kedronโ€™s latest electric spare wheel assist (EWA) attachment designed to automatically lower the spare wheel at the rear, that will be fitted standard to all TopEnder models from now on."

That's crazy, I've never heard of air brakes on such a lightweight trailer. Maybe they went with air to eliminate the issues with electric brakes in mud and water.

It is 13,000lb Travel Trailer, so not exactly lightweight, unlike a US 5th wheeler it will be going Off Road. So far from Crazy

"Crazy" being an opinion, a subjective term, not meaning it's bad, just very different and unusual. But 13K is very light for a trailer with air brakes. Most air brake trailers I've seen are 25K plus GVWR. It had to be a little pricey to set up that pickup to control and supply air brakes.

It is a custom build, manufacturer builds only Off Road Caravans and went for full air brake
An ex Texan , if some what eccentric , naturalised Australian built this for his own brand of Off Road Caravan

I think I'd rather have electric-over-hydraulic brakes. Especially if the tow vehicle doesn't have an engine-driven air compressor.

I do like that air-suspension however.

Not great Off Road.Electric Brakes Do not know they use Hydraulic brakes on that, but the air suspension maybe a clue

What's the deal with the American full size pickup in the first couple pictures, we saw 1 F150 and 1 F250 when we were in Aus for 3 weeks road tripping. The F150 was painted in a Construction Company paint job, and the F250 was towing a race car trailer.

Not exactly vast in number as you probably noticed. They are doing conversions on HD Diesel Pickups, about 2000 all up sold annually.
The US Pickups are more CAR/ Truck than the Hino light truck . If it came down to it you could have the equivalent of a F750 4x4 towing it
Last Ford F150's were sold in 1992 in Australia What is sitting next to it killed the F150's. Last F250/ F350's were sold from Ford in 2006, all Diesels

Of the 2000 conversions done here( none sold from a OEM dealer), most are " Lifestyle Vehicles", others are PR vehicles, some are used for towing. What is more surprising is we are the greatest users of US Pickups outside NA
