Air conditioner size in Elkhorn 11z

I need to replace my roof in my new to me 1993 Elkhorn 11Z camper. I thought that it would be a good time to put an air conditioner on it when I do. It is A/C ready so other than the roof replacement, it should be an easy task. My question is what size is best? The Polar Cub 9200 or the Pinguin II 11,000 btu? I have a 4000w generator so running it shouldn't be a problem. I just don't want one to small. Will the 9200 keep the camper cool in 100+ temperatures? Is the 11,000 btu to big for the camper?

Thanks,
Patrick

If you really camp in 100+ degree temps then get the highest BTU available, but you'll probably find that it is noisier with a higher current draw, higher profile and cost as compared to a lower BTU unit. I now have the 9200 Polar Cub and it did perform well in high humidity / 100+ temps, but it will take longer to get the initial temperature down to 70s though. Took me about 45 minutes as I recall, where a 13.5 BTU probably would have done it in 30 minutes. Once at the desired temp, the 9200 cycles normally.
Most important to me now is lowest profile, lowest weight, quiet and works with the Honda 2000 generator. Good luck.

So a 13.5k wouldn't over do it. I realize that its not a 4 season camper and I would not use it all that much, but if I am going to buy one, I might as eell do it right.

I have a 2003 Fleetwood 11x. I believe the factory AC unit is a 13.5k BTU. It is not too large, it does a good job. I could see maybe dropping down to the 11,000 but I don't think I'd go down to a smaller unit than that.

Colman no longer makes the Polar cub, current production is the Mach 8 Cub (9200 BTU) Part Number 47201A876. The Mach 8 (47000 series) are very low profile at 8.25" and are available in higher BTUs.
