Someone on a FB group said since 2014, NW has installed Progressive Dynamics in all their units? Is this true?

Not here to argue with anyone and when my WFCO pukes, I'll replace it with a PD. Until then, the WFCO is fine.

I don't have that issue with mine. According to my SeeLevel I get 90% charge on both my batteries in about 3 hours running on genny in the woods, but, I can also direct charge the batteries via an outside port that bypasses the converter entirely. Haven't used that yet...

I don't want to fast charge mine anyway. Fast charging causes them to gas off and drop electrolyte level. I prefer a slow charge

Yes the WFCO is notorious for NEVER entering boost mode when a fast charge is expected.

Anyone that says WFCO is working and charging fine should also confirm their WFCO goes to 14.4 volts as advertised when the battery is low (50 percent or less). Then confirm WFCO drops to 13.2 volts after several days of minimal to no use. Mostly crickets....

Yep heres mine

I was always wondering why my betteries seemed to take forever to charge back up when running the genny. Mine is working find but is worthless charging the batteries when out in the field camping.

I had a look at the PD website, they aren't far from me in Marshall, Michigan. I see it's now called Progressive Dynamics International. Wonder if the 'International' means made offshore or made offshore and assembled here in Michigan....

I compared prices too. The truck camper sized PD unit is 143 retail and the WFCO is 101 retail. Both in plastic chassis.

Your situation is obviously different than mine but I see no reason to bash something that works.

It is the Net, where you can bash without merit.

I'm on my 5th summer season with mine, no issues for me either. My batteries look great and have never boiled over, even during winter storage with the batteries left installed and camper plugged into 120v.

Thanks. I've seen Randy's name come up from time to time across the internet. I'll get a hold of him.

I have been ordering from them since 2005, never had any issues. I have upgraded two of my own RV charger systems, and a couple of my friends. I have made no purchases for about a year.

http://www.bestconverter.com/ continues to expand their product line. I have never been disappointed with their products or service. Randy is very easy to talk to. There are constantly new upgrades and products and it is beneficial to talk to someone that knows the business.

It worked great for a few years, but then began boiling the batts. recently. I'm not bashing, but there are a lot of negative reviews out there about WFCO's. The one thing it doesn't have that a PD w/charge wizard does is equalztion mode. That's a d-a-m-n nice feature to have.

I agree and my replacement unit will be a PD (if I keep the unit that long).

WFCO is light years ahead of the Magna-Tek toaster I had in my Lance.

Because it's boiling the water out of my batteries. I have to top them off every 2 weeks

I think that would be an excellent move. Look at the PD9245C convertor with Intellipower/Charge Wizard. I've had one in my AF811 since new (10 years) and it has been flawless. Regarding the WFCO....it's Chinese junk and does deserve its "bad wrap" as one uninformed member argues. The PD is money well spent. Shop around on the internet such as Amazon or call PD directly for honest info. Just make sure it has the "Charge Wizard " function.

I've heard a lot of bad about them. 3-4 years and they die.

I just pulled it out. Gonna replace it regardless. Maybe I can get a few bucks for it on CL or ebay.

Recommendations on a PD model?

Why don't you give it away to someone that needs it. That way you can be honest about why you are upgrading. Wouldn't that be much better?
