any full timers in small tt?

Just wo xering ic a 17 ft tt is too small for full time camping.we are New to tt and have not yet purchased. I cant make up y mind as to whether a 17ft tt is too small or not? Advise,, suggestions? Thanks

Twice the husband on 1/2 the money in 1/10th... NO, 1/20th the space? Why are you going so small? I always say: "Buy more RV than you think you need... ONE TIME." and you are asking about "staying beautiful while onthe raod" in 17'. Good luck, but then I'm comming at this from 42' and four slide for half time.

Good advice above, to rent what you are asking about. There are folks that full time in large TCs. For me, I would want a 20' TT as a minimum and that would even depend on the layout. I have a 34' Avion that may seem small to some folks.

Look thru the things you own and decide if you can get rid of most of it without any trouble. Every year we meet someone in a small trailer that is full timing. We also meet people in a 40 foot 5W that are having to give it up because they do not have enough space. Only you can decide what will be right for you but take everything into consideration first.
And most of it should be changed to all except for some dishes and clothes.

Do you have any alternatives to the t@B? IMHO, you will get that closed in feeling real fast. Depending on what your towing with, you may not have a lot of room for all your stuff. Keep in mind that since you are full timing, yor stuff will include cleaning supplies, and due to the size, you will be buying groceries quite often.

There are those that full time in truck campers, so a 17' TT is a possibility. I could do it, as I am single and live outside my camper. I visit areas with good weather which allows this lifestyle. My idea has always been that if I could enjoy living somewhere for a week, then a month would be good too. If a month was good, then full time would be okay as well. I enjoy the freedom from "stuff" that a large home requires.

I bought the 17 ft Ascend because of towing limitations. a 19 footer with walk around bed would have been much more liveable IMHO.

I have a friend that full-timed in a 13 ft Scamp. There is a guy in the park (I see him every winter) that lives in a home-brew camper that is even smaller... It's all in your wants/needs/means

We have a 19 as well as a 30 and we have full timed in the 19 for 3 months at the end of which it was getting REAL small.

How many people is "we?" How much stuff do "we" need to keep and carry with us?

Some people can get their life down to what fits in a car, on the back of their motorcycle, in a shopping cart, or a backpack. Others can pare down for a couple weeks or a few months at a time, but still need a bigger place to call home.

A lot of people are in 40-45 foot motorhomes because that is their minimum comfortable lifestyle. They might be full time, or just going for the season.

I've known several people, singles, for whom everything they owned, everything they thought they needed could fit. in their car, then it was often a VW van, but at least one did OK with a compact sedan, VW type 1. But they did not also live in that space, and they all eventually outgrew this, buying houses or apartments and needing moving vans to carry the stuff they owned.

I've also met families of four to six people full timing in a 24-28 foot TT, with a tow vehicle and sometimes a second car to help carry the people and their extra stuff. I meet these. people in RV parks and trailer parks that cater to people who move around to work at temporary jobs.

So maybe 17 foot TT would work for full timing if you can fit in the space, and your lifestyle fits the space. Only you can figure out what works for you.

I had a 17' hybrid which is larger in terms of floor space than a 17' TT and based on my experience with that a 17' TT is too small for full-timing.

Of course anything is "possible". Some folk are forced to live in a cardboard box under an overpass, and to them full timing in a 17' TT would be simply palatial.

For those of us not in that predicament, the 17' space would become very small in a heartbeat especially given that it is the two of you (based on your other post about looking good while FTing). Heck it was a bit small for us and we are recreational RVers.

I strongly suggest renting one for a week or so and see how you make out. You'll see what I am talking about, I am sure.

Only you can answer that. Some people 40' is to small others live just fine in a small RV. I could live in a 26' with a 12' slide out. What do you plan to use to tow it with?
