6.2L 1/2 tons need not respond.

Looking for some real world towing and daily driving experiences and numbers. I'm having a hard time justifying a diesel as a daily driver anymore when I only tow 10k about 12 times a year. A 1/2 ton won't cut the 1,400 tongue weight, so I need a 3/4 to 1 ton truck. Also, trying to justify the gas over diesel. I drive about 30,000 a year, and also am concerned at 100k in three years, the gasser will be worth squat and less desirable on trade. With repairs on diesel, I'm not interested in owning one past 100k. The 6.2L is looking better all the time. Any real world experience is appreciated.

Had one and recently sold our F250 w/ 6.2. We loved the power and low gas prices. Ran it hard with maxed weights through the Appalachians, Rockies, across the plains and to Alaska and back at different times with a 5ver and a TC- all within 1 year. After 30 K miles in one year we decided to swap out for a Class A. All that said we could not have done better for our run to Alaska and back than that 6.2. Truck rode comfortably and modified easily between TC and 5ver.

After all that hard running it never so much as had a hicup.

I got about 15 mpg around town, 12 with the TC and 8 mpg with the 5ver. I do miss that truck!

People who like to go fast and go fast uphill or drive a lot of miles will want a diesel....that being said, if you tow over 10k you should get the power a diesel offers along with CGWR....if you tow less than 10k a gas is fine....as long as your weight falls in the envelope......do the math.... good luck
