B&W slider in a new ford

I have a neighbor that just purchased a 15 ford f350. He has no experience pulling a fifth wheel as he came from a MH. So new fifth wheel and new truck with no hitch yet. Truck has fifth wheel prep package so I'm steering him toward the b&w 3400 slider hitch.
My ques is, are there any new Ford owners with short beds that have had experience with this hitch or have another one they would recommend. RV has a GVWR OF 16000.

It would seem that moving the hitch back that much while going down the road would mess with the handling. I thought the kingpin was suppose to be above or slightly ahead of the rear axle.

After having owned about 5 different hitches I have narrowed it down to 2. I was using a Reese in a short bed and took out rear window, so went to a Pullright SG. It's a great hitch. Bought a F350 with prep and long bed. Didn't want to keep auto slider so figured I would buy a pull right non slider. It was expensive. Priced the B&W puck system and couldn't believe how much I would save. Now I guess you are dealing with a short bed. You can also go to the companion with an extension to move the hitch back about 6 inches. I've seen this set up in Dodges with huge cab, and very short bed. These guys loved the setup.

I call an RV shop that sells those and they told me that a $600 adapter kit had to be purchased also for that hitch to work in the new ford.

Mine was around 1100-1200 complete, including shipping. Can't remember where I found it.
Looks like E-Trailer sells them for 1210.00 shipped.

I don't believe the b&w will fit into the turnover ball (gooseneck) on a newer ford with fifthwheel prep. B&w gooseneck ball insert is square and Reese is round. The ford fifthwheel prep is manufactured by Reese.

Drops right in the pucks and works pefectly.
I shopped around and found it for 1100.00

From what I've read the B&W slider I mentioned fits in the turn over ball location allowing it to fit any gooseneck setup which is also in the fifth wheel prep on the ford and Ram.

I just ordered a 2016 f350 shortbed with the fifthwheel prep so I have been researching hitches. The one you mentioned is not compatible with the ford fifthwheel prep. B&W does have a non sliding fifthwheel hitch that is compatible. As far as sliding hitches go, the Reese elite series 18k slider and the Demco auto slider are the only two. Other than that, you could buy the Reese rail adapter and then drop your sliding hitch of choice onto the base rails.

Why go with a manual slider, they are a pita at best. Go to a PullRite Superglide automatic, and be done. Cost is probably the same . If I could do it over I would have went to an automatic slider right off.
