Best tape

The rear bottom corners on my Jayco Eagle have separated due to some water-I think.I'm looking for a long lasting repair since the camper is not worth much money.I have looked at the possibility of using a strong tape as temporary repair . I now have foil duct tape on the corners but it splits too soon or after about 90 miles.Any and all replies are appreciated.

If you have your own photo server, PhotoBucket, Tiny Pics, etc, then you have your pictures on your photo server, they must be marked public and you link the picture here in your post. There is a postage stamp, icon in the advanced posting menu. Click it and you put the URL of your pic on your photo server and then you must make sure it it no wider then 640 pixel and I think under 50 to 100 meg but they may have eased up on the meg but you have to deal with the 640 wide. You can put 640 in the size box and it will down size it for you when it view here on the forum.

I've got the Gorilla tape in white. Walmart has plenty of it. It seems to be good tape. We'll see. Thanks for all the help.

This isn't a tape answer but... I had a slide-in with a separated corner. The underlying support was sound so I lifted the sides inserted a fabricated angle then screwed the side to both the corner stud and the extended angle. Take pictures because it will be obvious to the buyer but the pics will show how robust the repair is.

The Eternabond will "not" hold a splitting corner together.

A few things that may help,

A picture here would really help us suggest something that might work, but some of us cannot envision the actual mechanical problem from the word description. If we see what you are up against, then we can try to give a better fix to structurally hold the joint.

Once the joint is held, then there are ways to seal it from leaking and Eternabond may be part of that sealing solution. Foil tape and even good duct tape is many times stronger in tensile strength then Eternabond. But Eternabond is an outstanding water tight seal as long as the seal is not stressed.

I know one thing that doesn't work. I tried using the foil type of duct tape. It'll split after 60 miles.It was a last resort when I first noticed the split metal corner.

As westend is cautioning and I second the fact that Eternabond is not good for trying to pull together or keep two items together that are under tension. The microsealant used as the "STICKY STUFF" is soft and will pull and stretch fairly easily and when under tension is does have a tendancy to "RELEASE" from the surface that it was previously stuck to.

Eternabond is a fantastic "sealant", not a "strong adhesive" in the typical sense.

Eternabond Roof Tape has a vinyl wear layer. Eternabond Webseal has a fabric matrix but must also be painted to survive in UV light.

I don't mean to rain on your BBQ, here, but I think you're going to be disappointed and a few dollars shorter by just using tape for this repair. I've tried the tape repair in pretty much the same situation and it doesn't work that well. Since the surfaces you're trying to join are now loose and will move when towing, it will not hold with any kind of tape I know of. If you can spread an epoxy in the joint and clamp it closed until the epoxy sets, the tape will do the rest of the sealing. If it was me, I'd use a light metal angle piece of aluminum and fasten it to both surfaces, sealant applied under and over, and sleep sound.

Another way of bringing the two surfaces together is to back the trailer close to a garage or shop wall and use boards against the wall, to the trailer to force the joint closed.
