Buyer Beware - Adventurer Truck Campers

We purchased a new 2016 Adventurer 80RB the beginning of August and actually like the camper a great deal. There is however an issue with the design and execution of the entry door. We had a problem with ours caused by a factory defect (installed incorrectly on the production line) and the manufacturer now claims no responsibility. While the product may be fine in general, it's not worth it if the manufacturer doesn't stand behind the claimed warranty. See my video for all the details ....

Your Original Post could get you into libel.
You infer that you bought directly from the manufacturer.
There was no dealer - nor any dealer interaction.

Right there is a lot of empty accusatory information.
Nice video though.

I guess I'm confused .... how and where did I "infer" that I bought the camper directly from the manufacturer ? You think I drove from Georgia to Yakima WA. to buy a camper ? My transaction in buying the camper from D&H RV in North Carolina is well documented in another video on my channel. The dealer is 360 miles away (720 mile round trip). I had contacted the dealer about the fridge not working the first day of our first trip in the camper and he referred me to Adventurer who then told me that I needed to deal with Dometic on my own. I can understand this and didn't have a problem. The door issue was what I considered a factory defect (not a supplier) and that's why I contacted the factory warranty people. No need to involve the dealer who is so far away. When I contacted the warranty department, I was simply looking for advice on how to make the repair and asked for their help in repairing it. Their response is chronicled in the video as a result. Please explain why you think I am liable for anything ?

I'm glad I did because I ended up with a camper van which fits my lifestyle today.

It doesn't sound like they lost your sale. You didn't even stay with a truck camper. Besides, I'm pretty sure your '98 doesn't have a factory warranty. Not that it's a problem. I like to buy used out of warranty as well.

lost a sale?? Need to close this thread.

Glad you liked my videos on the Adventurer Owner's Forum Billy Ray. It's too bad I won't be participating anymore or posting videos to it as I don't have the same enthusiasm for the brand as I used to ๐Ÿ˜‰

True. False and false.
There are so many omissions here that it should be obvious.
Did he buy it factory direct?
Or through a dealer?
What was the dealer response?
Errors of omission
are all over this post - thus the window for libel.

I bought a new Palomino truck camper back in 2010. It had a leak from the start and water damaged the front cap. I thought oh no they are such a cheap camper they will never fix this. I was wrong. I took it to another Palomino dealer 1.5 hours from me where I never even bought it from and Palomino came an got it, took it back to the manufacture plant, repaired it and brought it right back to my house and helped me load it back on my truck. It looked good as new. I turned around and sold it for what I paid for it and bought a Montana fifth wheel. Now that is customer service.

The crux of the issue is that Adventurer deemed it necessary to install a bumper in order to protect the door from damage against the ladder. The issue lies with the fact that the bumper was installed incorrectly at the factory and they chose not to accept any responsibility for that.

As for securing the door when it gets windy .... gosh, who wouldn't do that. In my case, it was not windy. I was inside the camper working on stuff when suddenly a freak gust of wind just came up from nowhere (this happens).

When I contacted the warranty department, I wasn't asking for a new door or anything at all. I was simply asking for their advice and help in repairing it. Their response (you're on your own, we're not responsible in any way) so took me by surprise that I felt compelled to react as I did.

Also, I have stated several times, both my wife and I like the camper a lot. We intend to use it extensively for years to come (hopefully). We're heading to western Canada with it this spring. This in itself does not grant the builder immunity from all responsibility for defects in their assembly.

LOVE my Adventurer. Built like a tank compared to the 3 previous RV's I have owned. Couple of very minor issues, nothing major. Best bang for your buck in the TC industry, IMO. Notice the OP isn't talking about selling.

Oh, and when it gets too windy, I secure my friction hinge door. If I didn't and it broke my taillight (which it would since there is no bumper there), I would fix it and move on. Maybe there should be a bumper there? Not sure, but I notice things like that when I first bought it and plan for it. It's well stated only good up to 15 MPH. Friction hinge door, what a cool option, love it.

Area13....what other problems did you have with previous rv's?
