Carry load on rubber roof

I have a cargo container that I would like to mount on my roof so I can carry light things like my crab pots, chairs, a spare tent...maybe my chainsaw. Now I know enough not to direct mount it to my rubber roof, is there something to place under the carrier or should I make/bar mounting bars for the rack? I don't want it too high up there, so lower the better. It's pretty big....maybe too big to be on the roof.

Any suggestions on carrying crab pots? I looked at those hitch mounted racks today, one might work but they are pretty small.

It is about this size.

I have a Aluminum storage box with rubber pads under it. I used 3 U-bolts to bolted it to a corner of the roof Rail. Been up there for 10 years with no problems.( If you don't count the time the box hit a overhead beam!!)

Vinsil: Have you used one of these and how is it held down on the roof. Is it just laid down onto the rubber roof of the TC? cheers Chrislt
