So I am looking at picking up a slightly used 2500HD Gas 6.0 V8 4x2

According to Chevy:

4.10 ratio max trailer weight is 13000
payload is 3347.

Jayco:

unloaded 7690
dry hitch 1120
gross vehicle weight 10950
cargo carrying 3260.

do you think this is a doable combo?

James, see the combo that I have in my sig. I have been just fine with the 6.0 pulling the load that I have. I also live in Fl but go north at times. Never had an issue with power, I pull in 5th in florida, sometimes in 4th when slow traffic or up steeper grades. Never used 3rd yet, but some have. Sounds like what your looking at will be fine. The 6.0 is no diesel just like any other gas engine, but will pull and not complain about it. Enjoy getting one, I like the 4x4 models myself especially in some campgrounds it really comes in handy or florida sugar sand....lol anyway just a consideration since u live in florida. Good luck on ur search, and my weights are similar in what ur looking at if that helps. Btw I am a GM 6.0 fan despite pulling with others engines including diesels, this is my second one and plan on keeping it a long time.
A truck, a camper, a few toys, but most importantly a wonderful family.

Since you live in FL you should be fine.

I have the same trailer and a 2005 2500HD with the 6.6 diesel. I can't exactly give you any info on a gas truck and pulling as that is not what I have, but I can give you my actual weights that I just got a couple of weeks ago. I need to adjust my WDH to get more weight on my front, but this should give you an idea of where the real world trailer weights might be -
WDH connected
Steer axle: 4120 lbs
Drive axle: 4920 lbs
Trailer axle: 8100 lbs
Total axle: 17140 lbs

WDH not connected
Steer axle: 3980 lbs
Drive axle: 5120 lbs
Trailer axle: 8040 lbs
Total axle: 17140 lbs

Truck only
Steer axle: 4400 lbs
Drive axle: 3600 lbs
Total axle: 8000 lbs
2014 Jayco Jayflight 32BHDS
2015 Ford F250 Lariat 4x4 Crew Cab 6.7L Powerstroke

I have a similar pickup and would not recommend it for mountain towing at those weights. Flat lands and an occasional climb and you will get there.

That looks like a good set up. Like said above max torque on the 6.0 gasser with 4:10 is around 4,000 rpm. Do hesitate to let it Rev when needed on Hills.
I had the same truck and it did well pulling 10,000 lbs.

Take my posts for what they are, opinions based on my own experiences.

I'd say that setup would be a good fit. You've got plenty of payload, and the 6.0 is a good puller with 4.10. Don't be afraid to let it rev if your on a steep grade.

I towed my keystone 38BHDS with my 2011 gmc 3500 w 3:73 and 6.0. It did ok. TT tips the scales at 10,900 empty. I now have a '14 Ram with a 6.4 and it's a better fit for that tt, although I just traded the tt for a FW today.

I think you'll be fine With that truck. You won't win any races, but it will get you there.
