Better buy those Mopars soon as the only good thing about them, the 100k warranty is gone in 2016.

FCA Gutting Warranty

Guess you have to do something to shore up the lowest margins and profits in the business.

Non issue for HD Diesel truck buyers:
"Diesel-powered FCA products also continue their 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, unchanged from the 2015 model year."

You remember when that sibling of your's picked on you or you picked on them, the more you or they cried and threw a fit the worse they or you got picked on /picked on them. Itguy is constantly laughing his head off on the other side of his computer as he picks, you all do realize that right?

Five years and 60k is still a respectable warranty. I would think any manufacturer's defects should have shown up before then.

I'm sure that Mopar is cutting the warranty because no one was using it anyway! Service bays empty, techs sitting around ... why offer the warranty?

Geez ...

:h. So your saying that Chrysler products don't break down! Come on.....every manic has a breakdown once in a while!

The day I bought my PowerStroke, you make it sound like I should have played the lottery. It was an excellent truck for 10 years before I finally outgrew it. My wife still likes it better than my Ram even though she is only the co-pilot. Ram had to make a better product that addressed the concerns I had last time I shopped and they did.

Manufacturers use warranty and service coverage as a marketing tool that may have no correlation to actual vehicle reliability. When a certain campaign no longer brings in sales yet generates overhead, they will swap it out for something else. Remember when banks gave out toasters and frying pans? That had nothing to do with banking and everything to do with marketing.

The article was fine and factual.

The "only good thing about them" and "gutting" comments, and the long history of similar statements by that poster are pure, useless trolling. Most posters here rise above the petty stuff. Most.

So yeah I was kind of venting on those problem child's. After over a decade now, I'm over it but I still wouldn't suggest one unless it was bullet proofed. I am glad FMC has had pretty good success with the newer 6.7 engines.

The five year/100,000 mile warranty is irrelevant to the vast majority of people. How many forum members actually put 100,000 miles on in five years? When I bought my "lesser" 2015 Silverado the salesman kept pushing me to buy touting the 5yr/100k warranty and the fact that it would be gone for 2016. When I told him my 10 year old trade had 89k miles he had no response. It's just not that big of a selling factor. A lot of people trade more often than every five years anyway. I could see where the extra warranty would be of value if you were full timing and criss crossing the country and moving often.

GM is also cutting the 24 month, 24,000 mile maintenance plan to 12 months, 12,000 miles. Is the cost of a couple of oil changes going to change your mind when you are hard pressed to buy a vehicle for under $30,000 these days? A diesel tow vehicle is likely upwards of $50,000.
