What Owners Should Do:
Ram manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will begin notifying owners July 6. Until then, FCA is advising owners to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to Neutral, placing the vehicle in Park once it has stopped. That will cancel cruise control. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.

Is this being fixed yet, or still in the "wait for further information" stage?

Well shoot! I'm already hitched up and ready to start an 800 mile road trip.

edit: so I called my local Fiat dealer, and they haven't heard of this, but the service guy said that's common, updates from Fiat HQ usually take weeks beyond when they're released to the news media.

other reports state it will be fixed by a software update/ flash - so no waiting for parts.

I don't believe you have to wait for the notice. Call your dealer and they can look up your truck + sutstanding recalls by VIN.
