I think GM will have a winner on their hands and sell a ton of them. What is the drivetrain coverage on the diesel? Would think it is 5/100 on the diesel right.

BTW FCA has dropped their gas drivetrain coverage to 5/60 for MY 2016 to fall in line with the other manufacturers coverage. I believe we were the last to do so for the gas vehicles only. You can still buy a lifetime warranty if you like on any gas vehicle but not the diesels ๐Ÿ˜ž

You guys are a hoot. I am not offended as you put it. Just a simple statement about the light truck. I am sure their are many pop ups and such towed so my apologies if I offended you. BTW China Twp. is Dodge, Chrysler and Ram country How did a GM employee get in here:)
I moved in before I was a GM employee. Drove in my Ford Escort and Silverado.

Just to be clear, there is a Chevrolet, Buick and GMC dealer in China Twp!

That's actually more than many full size 1500 series pickups. There are several configurations that are rated at less than 1000!

I think this pickup has great specs for its intended purpose- a daily driver that gets decent mpg (very good with the diesel), and have the ability for light duty towing and hauling.

Exactly.

Frightening. Put several people in a DualCab and there goes a lot of your payload. Pass on that.

For a new styled truck the 1970s ugly pinch weld under the rocker panels shows like a pimple on a supermodels backside...

I'm considering the Colorado to replace my 3500. I took one out for a test drive and found the V6 really screams with a downshift. The truck doesn't have the power I thought it would. Not that impressive for a $35K+ little pickup.

I do not think it will carry your Arctic Fox 990 TC! Chris

Have you read the criteria for the awards? Only vehicles that are new or have some sort of redesign are eligible. With that criteria, what RAM or Ford should have been in the running?

Yeah I have known that from past "Truck Of The Yea" articles, and still think it is is a win by default. It kind of makes the title useless to me because they do not test all of them, but that is just my opinion.
Award means NOTHING unless all makes are tested.

They are only testing Pickups released in that financial year, not current older models

I walked away from the Canyon because of the 3.6 engine a few months back. The 2.8 Diesel has generated new interest, but I would prefer either a 4.6 or 5.3 gas engine.

The 3.6 is not a truck engine.

True , it is a car engine, used in a Pickup, absolutely anemic

The 4 cylinder and diesel will be nice trucks.

But the 3.6 GM V-6 is an extremely problematic engine--probably worst engine in any U.S. vehicle. The big problem is camshaft chains stretching and causing the engine to jump timing. They have to half disassemble the engine to replace the three chains and sprockets, and it's a $2400 average repair. Unfortunately, GM only warrants these engines 36K miles.

Are you sure ? Also the GM powertrain warranty is 100,000 miles, not 36,000 miles as you indicated. My source...my 2015 GM manual.

My 2015 GM Canada warranty is 160,000 kms...(100,000 miles) or 5 years...whichever comes first.

GM cut the warranties for 2016 to 5/60K from 5/100K.

That's not good. Now GM warranties are the same as Ford and Chrysler.

Colorado may be a nice truck but lets face it for the most part this is an around town grocery getter and light haul truck. As this forum is about towing I think the application for most of us, would not see the Colorado as a choice.

Maybe we need to further define the Tow Vehicle forum. Maybe we should have a section for towing under 5k, 5k-9.1k, and 9.1k and above.

That way nobody is offended with "Tow Vehicle". I can tell you that I have pulled livestock trailers with livestock or livestock fencing with a "light haul GMC Acadia" with this 3.6 engine and it did fine.

I wish that I had borrowed a Colorado with the 3.6 to haul the Uhaul tandem trailer the 1200 miles last year. I was not sure if all my daughters stuff would fit in the trailer, so I borrowed a 1500 Double Cab.
