Contemplating the 2017 Platinum F350

I've got an opportunity to sell my 2016 Platinum for what I believe to be a very good price, especially reletive to what I paid for it. Then I look at what they want to go to a new one and I think I might just keep what I have. How much more would you be willing to pay for a new '17 Platinum vs a '16 Platinum with 30k miles?

My truck is just 16yo that I bought new. Runs fine, no reason to trade.
If you already have a 2016 F350 just drive it and put some money in the bank.

Very Little. $5K tops.
There will always be a latest greatest.
Ford and/or the banks will be the real beneficiaries of the deal.
The difference in the trucks is too minimal for me to justify the expense.

Minimal difference? The frame, cab, bed, interior and exterior is all new. Has been a new frame in 20 years on the Super Duty. It's a big deal.

OP if you get a good price for you 2016 and can get 10k off the 2017 then do it. Just make sure to negotiate the price of your 2016 separately or they'll try and fudge the numbers on the other.

It's still a truck with four wheels and a bed. The 1 year old truck is not suddenly obsolete.
Don't get me wrong I can find plenty of irrational ways to spend my money, but trading in a 1 year old truck for the latest greatest isn't one of them.

It costs you 15k per year to keep your 1500 new? You must put on a lot more than 30k miles?

It seems like it does. I actually trade about every 9 months, and I will have about 15000 miles on it.

I'm going to order a new 2019 Laramie Longhorn (one step up from my current Laramie) as soon as I can (probably January order it looks like).

Went from a 2012 King Ranch dually to a 2017 and the difference in trucks is huge. The 2012 was a great truck, but the new platform is a big step up. Towing is no comparison, the 17 takes the mountains around here about 10 mph faster. The electronic offered, tow tech package is great. Camera to line up hitch, 360 view in reverse, warnings when pulling out or backing if vehicle coming, side cameras, blind spot warning. And that is just a few of the new additions.

If you can get a good price on your trade, and happy with new pricing, go for it. No major changes to the 2018's to make waiting worth while, and they will go up in price.

Really like mine, moved up from a 2012 SRW Lariat. I'm a techie so I love all the new features... but my last truck didn't even have a backup cam so pretty big jump for me. Love the adaptive cruise and 360 cameras, and the push button start etc.

Also like the 48 Gallon tank, although it hurts to fill it. I do hope the mileage improves but it hasn't seen many 'empty' miles yet.

I am thinking the difference would be about $16k. I'll know more in a few days.

Please buy a 3500 mega cab black sport appearance Cummins next year and I’ll give you $15k less. I can’t find em near that cheap.

There are a LOT of people that are willing to trade every year or every other year. I used to do that, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me now.

With as many posts as I have seen you make lamenting the high cost of new vehicles, and that people are constantly over extending themselves, I am kind of surprised you would be considering an upgrade so soon.

It's your money, do what you want with it. If that means a new truck, go for it. I am sure the '17's are nicer than the '16's.

I have nothing to add other than I really like my 17 and the platform as a whole feels like a major upgrade from my 13.
