Cummins 6.7 mileage

What type of fuel mileage are you all getting with your Cummins and does it help adding cetane boost. I'm averaging 15 MPGs in mixed driving but I drive it pretty hard off the lights. :B Towing I'm getting around 10.5 to 11 on the interstate with a 11K fifth wheel. I should mention I got the 68RFE trans with 3.42 rear end.

I apparently suck at starting threads because my last two have been killed off. Maybe third times the charm.

And WHY do you 'think' you need cetane booster/additive?

I'm just asking. I don't use it now and was wondering if anyone did and if so does it help with mileage. I got a buddy that swears by it but he drives a Duramax.

Awe they need all the help they can get. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks but I'm not wanting this to turn into a brand war. Go troll somewhere else.

I guess you did not see the "wink" it was a kidding statement. Maybe you should lighten up a bit. The emicons are there for a reason. If you want to know if RAM/Cummins was not available I would be driving a GM truck!!!

And if I did not make my self clear that there was no "TROLLING" then sorry, feel free to block me.

Yup.

I've seen 22 on the highway empty at 68 MPH without the camper but averaging #9000 GVWR.

Around town it's 17.5 steady.

Towing depends on where we go - a fair average of all would be 10 MPG.

My 2016 Ram dually has 4:10's and Aisin tranny. I get 15-16 mpg empty and 8-10 mpg towing my 19K lb. fiver. Added 50 gallon aux fuel tank in the bed and have extended my towing range to roughly 700-750 miles. That is if the average is 10 mpg. Total fuel now is 82 gallons.

I get a bit better than 17 in my standard daily driving cycle, which is city/suburban with lots of stoplights but also some stretches where I can cruise a bit. My commute is only 5.5 miles, though, so it's not ideal for mileage. I think it does very well under the circumstances, and it has improved with some miles compared to new.

I just did a 650 mile trip lightly loaded with lots of mountains (good and bad), but also with speeds rarely in excess of 65, and I got 22.4 mpg. I was very pleased with that.

Freeway tends to vary a lot depending on temperature, wind and speed. I've gotten as good as 20 and as bad as 13, so it can really vary.

I haven't towed the fifth wheel enough yet to have that mileage dialed in. Give me a week on that.

My EVIC has been very accurate so far. I jot down the #'s and clear the Trip B odometer at every fill up.

So far, the hand calc'ed has been within 0.1% of the EVIC.

Also jot down the #'s and clear Trip A odometer whenever I hitch or unhitch.

So far the average unhitched mileage has been 18.6 mpgUS, mostly rural driving, shopping, and so on. On the freeway at 62 mph, less steep hills and no stoplights, the EVIC says over 20 mpgUS.

Towing mileage is over 11 mg so far, but need to put more miles on it to get a good average.

I get about the same as you with the Aisin and 3.73s

I do get 20+ on the highway unloaded though.

I am assuming you have a Dually? If so you have actually hand called 20+ highway mileage with filling the tank to the top at each fill?

Gonna tell ya, when askin' about fuel mileage, that's one thing that will make a preacher lie....When pulling my 12000 lbs. 5yer I was averaging around 10-11 mpg. With my new trailer @ around 14000 lbs. it dropped to about 9-10 closer to 9 so far ...Hadn't really gone anywhere to get a good reading , so the jury is still out on fuel mileage...
