Dealer won't budge: What extras should I ask for?

Hello,

We are considering purchasing a new (to us) Yukon XL to tow our Rockwood Roo 23SS. We're pretty close to making the deal, pending a clean inspection by our mechanic, but we're about $500 different in the price. What kind of extras could I ask for that would bring value to me, but not cause the dealer to run away?

Here's the link to the vehicle:
Yukon XL

The only two things I can think of are

1) A full tank of gas (it's on E right now!)

2) Installation of my brake controller. Stupid question: This vehicle has the towing package (the button to push on the gear shift) ... does that mean the brake system is already hooked into the trailer so no controller is needed? Or do I still need the brake controller?

What other extras could I ask for that would be valuable?

I probably would have never installed one on my own but after getting this I don't know how I have done without one now. I line up first time every time. This has the range one foot markers with beep alarms. You can see the trailer hitch go over the top of the truck hitch ball. Can't get no better than that...

$8000 suv never stick around on the lot, especially full size. ******like toyota matrix, and some vw are around for an extended while.

low mileage 3/4 to 1ton can be bought at auction, and flipped at auction for profit.

the transmission coolers are stock on the tb but inadequet for towing. belive me, we would not give any extras on a wound up 1/2 ton sub. It would be marketed as cheap 4wd family vehicle, and somebody would buy it. We would not market it as a tow vehicle. Lot has: 2 2008 k2500 ext, and an 06 cummins marketed as tow vehicles, lol

Just an FYI. My last 2 GMC Envoys, the tranny coolers were standard where they were an option on Chevy's. I believe the same applies to Yukon/Tahoe.

say bought at auction: $7500
auction fee?. $700
car transport: 300
detail: 150
total: ?$8650 4 salaries to pay, lot rent to pay, ect

private buy your own vehicles and equip them the way you want!

I think the main point here is the vehicle is priced over NADA so the OP was trying to find some extra value to justify the purchase in a way that would gain him more $$ value than it would cost dealer.

If the dealer paid too much for the truck at auction, he may get stuck with it.

YIKES! I didn't get a chance to check for replies until just now, and there are a TON! Thanks everyone, I'll soak up all the responses.

I don't need to upgrade until May (we want the 3rd row this offers vs. our current 2-row Yukon), so I have time. I'm going to walk away from this for now because I have too many distractions to get it done at the moment.

I'm anxious to dig deeper into all info, especially the towing capacity numbers. Our 99 Yukon (same engine size) did great pulling our camper, so I thought this one would too. Now I'm going to punch the calculator a little harder...

WALK! 186000 miles? It better be a Diesel! If you are going to get something with that many miles on it, Check Ebay Motors and get a Diesel. The engine will last longer, it will pull the next 2 RVs if you upgrade and you'll get decent mileage.

That switch is only for trailer mode which leaves the transmission in lower gear longer for hauling uphill. Crew Cab pickup especially if your family is growing. How many people are you taking? If that is reason for the Yukon XL, Look for a Ford Excursion, they came in Diesel and will haul what ever you want.

If you are going to demand extras are you ready to walk if you don't get them? Best I've managed to do was get a 3rd key.

Ext. warranty is not a bad idea. Maybe a full service, engine, trans, transfer case and diffs, coolant too.

You could ask for a 3rd party extended warranty...

GM SUV/Pickups didn't start installing the current built in brake controllers until mid 2007, mostly on the 3/4 tons. A half ton 5.3 v8 will pull your Roo just fine. Yes, you will need to install a brake controller.

i won't comment on the price but that mileage is a major issue.

you'll still need a brake controller. the tow/haul button is strictly a feature of the factory tow package and has nothing to do with the trailer's brakes.
BUT all you'll need is a $10 harness to hook up a brake controller. it's easily a 10 minute plug'n'play job. not worth asking it for an extra.

and the Yukon will easily be able to tow the Roo. don't need a HD truck.
i own a 23SS.
