2013 Volkswagen Touareg TDI sport w 255-55-18 wheels.

You know when I am towing, check our the Sept 2013 portion of my fuel logs, and you know when I am empty. Usually tow at 55-60 MPH, 14" tires limit my speed.

21 foot 3800 pound TT empty, probably at 4300 -4400 to tow.

2013 Touareg Sport TDI fuel logs, towing and un hitched. 4200 miles of history.

Sometimes, I really know it when I got a crappy load of diesel on a fillup. The MPG's fall off 10%, doesn't matter if it's my TDI Touareg or my TDI Passat. I try to avoid Shell diesel fuel here in California, and Valero, those two seem to be the worst offenders, and have been for the past 10 years. My fuel logs every fill up don't lie.

Towing my 34' Avion triple axle trailer, loaded, with a quad in the back of the F-350, 7.3 liter powerstroke truck I get about 11-12 mpg. The same setup with my 1994 Dodge one ton dually with a Cummins engine would get 14 mpg pulling that trailer. I miss the Cummins engine but I don't miss the truck.

2012 VW Touareg TDI 3.0 V6 and 18' TT at 4,500 lbs. 14.5 average, 16 max, 12.5 min pulling trailer. Unloaded 27.5 unloaded average, 30.9 max, 25 min. All these are tank averages from the computer, but I did hand calculate to verify that it's accurate a number of times and the computer was actually slightly underreporting MPG's.

Have 07.5 Duramax 6.6 LMM. Pulling Sig rig I get around 12 mpg on flat to rolling terrain @65 mph. In mountains drops to 10 or so. This is based on actual fuel consumed, not truck computer. I have done full tank tests without trailer and got 22 mpg @ 55 mph! At 65 drops to about 18 mpg.
