Dinette Cushion Replacement

Plan to purchase new cushion foam from here:
Upholstery foam

They offer several types.
1. HD36 HQ- 2.8lb/ft3 density w/ 35#ILD
2.Lux Foam HQ- 2.8lb./ft3 density with 50#ILD
3. HD36 Reg.- 2.0 lb./ft3 density w/ 35# ILD
4. Lux Foam Reg.- 2.0 lb./ft3 density with 50#ILD
Has anyone replaced theirs? Which foam do you recommend? I'm 200 lbs. and squash the cushion that came with the TT till its flat.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I replaced mine with a very firm foam, don't remember the rating, but it is much better. I also did the piece of junk jacknife sofa with the same stuff. Remember that a mattress supports the whole body, but seating only supports your bony butt. There is a company near me, in PA, that builds foam furniture and they will cut and install foam for free with purchase.

I would respectfully disagree with that. You can get foam that's too dense to be comfortable.

Isn't that sort of like saying, "You want the firmest mattress you can afford?"

Wayne's answer is a good one. Also, you can go to the camping/back packing section of many stores and buy closed cell foam pads that are used under sleeping bags. Very cheap and often will do a couple of cushions for less than $10. Usually not as thick as the kneeling pads.

My cushions collapse under my 240 lbs, too. My solution was to add thick 1" kneeling garden pads from Lowes/Home Depot (I've forgotten which one) under the existing foam so that my fanny never settles down to the wood platform. Cheaper than new high density foam and remains comfortable; original soft foam on top and dense kneeling pad below. Just unzip the cushion and insert. I wish my sofa cushions had zippers, too.

I bought foam at Rockford supply. Their prices are about half of what you will be paying at the Foam Factory.

You want the densest foam you can afford.
