Considering the great values in RV park and campground opportunities north of Orlando, I would not pay the price premium (even discounted) for the Fort Wilderness experience, for the purpose of exploring other parts of Florida. Two issues:
1. Fort Wilderness price premium is paying for easy, and extended time, access to the Disney properties.
2. Traffic is a real pain getting out of WDW, or the Orlando area generally, to other interesting parts of Florida, even central Florida. Being based at Fort Wilderness could easily cost you an hour or more per day extra time for exploring places like the space center, Cocoa Beach, the Nature Coast, or the Tampa area. It would be many miles of unnecessary travel for further daily destinations, like most of the Atlantic coast, or Sarasota/Fort Myers.
I really do like Fort Wilderness, but it is not the only nice place in Florida to park a RV, so it can be worthwhile to figure out just what are these other places you want to visit, and investigate the RV parks and campgrounds more local to those destinations.
