I tow a TT with GVWR about 4000 lbs. My Tahoe isn't cutting it. 4.8 V8 with a low gear ratio and a real fat 2nd gear. If you get stuck in it pulling uphill, you're stuck to the top. It's a 2007, so we're looking at a newer tow vehicle better set up to towing. We looked this weekend and found a 2014 Ram 1500 with the 5.7. I don't think it'll be as comfy as the tahoe, but I'll bet it tows a ton better. I've never owned a Chrysler product before. Funny, it only has a bumper hitch. I didn't check for a tranny cooler, but I will before I buy something. Opinions? Sorry if I'm opening a can of worms.

Just picked up an Ecodiesel. Haven't towed yet, but man, it is comfortable.

Should be fine but keep an eye on the payloads. Rams have some of the lowest in the 1/2 ton class. Can be less than 1k in a loaded up crew cab.

In before the troller starts throwing stones.

4000 pounds shouldn't be much of a struggle for ANY of the V8s (or comparable engines) in the newer trucks. If you like your Tahoe except for the power, consider a newer one with the 5.3 and 6 speed tranny. BIG improvement over what you are currently driving.

In regards to the RAM, that 5.7 will tow it VERY well. Me personally, if I was only towing 4000 pounds, I would probably go EcoDiesel.

I'm towing a 4500lb TT with a 4.8L 3.23 Chevy Silverado and feel your pain. It gets the job done but let's you know it's not happy about doing it. Good luck with the new truck.
