Has anyone experienced the 5th wheel hitch that you can purchase as an accessory with the Dodge truck? I notice it's a mopar product, but don' know anything about it compared to other 5th wheel hitches?

You could add a slider base to your Curt 20K...but you may have to use a picture frame adaptor. The Slider Base on the Curt is very robust...using solid bar stock for the slider rails...lots of slider bases use tubes instead of solid bars.

Thanks!

And Demco makes the best picture frame! Model 6099.

Unlike the Reese/RAM picture from the Demco can be released without first unpinning and removing the hitch. I pick my setup as a single unit. Puck latches not yet installed in this pictire. In the earlier picture I posted you can see the short handle latches.

Probably just like most owners. I'm not saying it's the best option available, but it's annoying to keep hearing the same garbage about anything non-B&W by the same guy over and over. With the Ram hitch we always get to hear about the bolts of "questionable" quality. :R

Interesting, you mentioned B&W well before I did. The op was asking about the RAM 5er hitch. I mentioned good call on hitch and truck and pointed out a few facts and opinion on the RAM hitch.

Sorry to upset you.

"Looks like I'll be going with the B & W."

Good call on the RAM/B&W. The RAM/Curt hitch is made in China. What really bothers me besides not the easiest to hitch (yes I hitched one twice) is the fact it has two 1/2" bolts holding the head to the base on each side of questionable grade. B&W has four 1/2" grade 8 each side.

I have the Ram 20k sliding fifth wheel hitch and yes they are made by Curt. I had it thrown in the deal along with the Ram picture frame adapter. It is a pretty good hitch; it works well and is easy to use. The downfall to it is that it is very heavy and is difficult to remove/install into the truck. I think most hitches in this range will be heavy, however.

If I were setting out to buy a hitch I would probably go with the B&W but I had mine included in the deal on the truck after I negotiated the price so I couldn't pass it up. You may very well be able to do the same thing if buying from a Ram dealer.

As for the truck, you will be very pleased with the Cummins powered Ram. They are an awesome truck and I agree with the previous poster who said the Cummins is in a league of it's own. You will be amazed at how effortlessly the I-6 pulls and the exhaust brake works so well it is difficult to put into words. And most importantly, you can plan a long trip somewhere and not have to worry about reliability. This was my #1 requirement coming from a Ford 6.0L and it feels great!:B

Good luck and please keep us posted.

I'm looking right now Grit dog. We got home without a hitch. Thanks

You mean you you left the RV there and drove home unloaded? or back home without a problem :B
I'd go with the B&W with the long bed.
Glad your home

Yep to both questions. As soon as I get another truck, I'll be headed back to bring the RV home. Looks like I'll be going with the B & W. Thanks

I did the factory pucks, Demco 6099 picture frame and B&W RVK3270 manual slider and am happy with it.

I thought it was a Reese, not a Curt. Either way, there's a thread about it right now in the towing section you ought to look at. Evidently Ram has a couple of different mount points for the pucks and one is marginally wider than the other. The factory hitch doesn't allow for any adjustment, so the guy who started that thread sent it back and got a B&W, which does allow for that adjustment. Something to check out anyway. B&W seems to be the one most people like the best for the factory pucks, but if you already have a fifth wheel hitch you can also buy rail conversion kits that drop into the pucks and then you can mount any rail mount hitch. Might save you some bucks.

If you're buying a CTD Ram next I think that's a great move. I love mine whether I'm commuting to work, hauling the family on a road trip or towing my fifth wheel someplace. They're just awesome trucks and the Cummins is (just my opinion) in a class of it's own.
