Enclosed Trailer Tires

Hey guys,

Time to replace the tires on my enclosed trailer. Size 205/75/14. LT tires not available in this size.

Searches seem to indicate that Maxxis is the way to go, but wanted to find out what others are using.

I know a lot of the truck camper folks tow a trailer of some type.

You can always upgrade a bit to a 15" rim and have access to a larger selection of tires. 14" is becoming a bit of an odd-ball size. I always prefer radials, there are still bias ply ST tires available that I would avoid. I have them in 14" on a dolly, and they last about 15 minutes...

Here's a list of LT and the all position tires I've seen on this and other trailering websites although mostly boaters and other type forums. For some reason many RV trailer folks seem to think they have to use a ST tire.

The commercial grade Maxxis U-168 LT in 14" sizes..

Kumho 857 all position tire in 14"....

Michelin Agilis AS LT commercial application....

All the tires above are rated from 55 psi to 75 psi and may have a different rim width/pressure requirement than your wheels can support.

I would search in the other forums. I like the TC forum, but we would be a very small sample. I think the most important thing is to buy "trailer" tires, and not put auto tires on a trailer. The tire construction is different.

When it comes to tires, on anything, be it truck, car, or trailer, I always try to buy the best possible.

Usually the difference in price between a cheaper tire and an excellent tire isn't worth the chance of a good trip ruined....or much, much worse.

I use Maxxis tires on my trailer, and change them every 5 years along with covering them when the trailer is stored.

I have had nothing but problems with maxis trailer tires. I would keep looking for another brand.
