F150 price increase

I ordered a 2016 F150 Lariat just before Christmas but made a minor mistake on the order and was reviewing the price and noticed that the exact same truck will cost $785 more now than it did two weeks ago. I will check with the dealer Monday and see if correcting the mistake will cause the truck to be re-priced at the new rates. If so I will have to drop it.

The increases are $490 more for the SCREW Lariat and $295 for LT tire upgrade that used to be NC.

The mistake was that the dealer questioned if I really wanted automatic parallel parking for $400. Since there isn't any parallel parking in my town I let him talk me out of but I had forgotten that dropping it made me lose a $500 package discount. Now I am paying $100 more for less truck. I am certainly not going to pay $685 more for the option that I still don't need. I wish that figuring out which boxes to check wasn't so confusing. I am convinced that the dealer did not realize what he did to me because his order sheet doesn't work the way that the one on the customer website does and did not show the loss of the discount package. Ford really needs to make the two pages work the same way.

+1 for ordering a truck. Still love mine after 15 years. $500 should not impact your decision.

This is exactly the problem I'm having.

All of the dealer around here order trucks with the highest "value" package they can. I don't need that many frills, just a few.

The F250 with the 4.30 axle can be found sometimes, but it lacks a bunch of other stuff as well.

I keep thinking, why in the world would anybody order these trucks this way?? For example, a 3.73 axle ratio with all the towing packages, but no towing mirrors....crazy stuff.

Always look for the truck with your options (plus any additional) on the lot at the closest dealer before ordering and you will avoid all of this nonsense.

I think the dealer should eat that and give it to you for the price you agreed to pay in 2015. Good luck!

The sad thing is that I was aware of it and that is why I had the whole package checked. The discount just slipped my mind when he questioned whether I really wanted it. I realized my mistake two days later but was leaving for a family Christmas vacation the next day and sent him an email asking him to fix the mistake. Now I have to get with him to see if we can get the order fixed without re-pricing the whole order. Since I have in writing where I asked for the fix before January 1st I am fairly optimistic.

I feel like it was an honest mistake, with 5 or 6 trim levels, 3 cabs and a myriad of options I have yet to find any dealer that really knows all there is to know about ordering a 150, much less the entire Ford line. The dealer has to punch in the order codes for each item that he wants and then submit the entire order at one time. His order form is not interactive like the customer "build it yourself" order form is. Also, the options are not identified the same way. Even though I sent him the link to what I had put together it took him about 15 minutes to translate what I had specified into the format that he had to submit. I was across the desk from him the whole time and had to help in some places. The confusion is unbelievable. That is what I am blaming my brain fart on.

Back in the 1930's and early '40's you could probably get a new Ford or Chevy Pickup for $ 785. Total.

I know, I know things go up.

On a serious note. It is probably just the way they are packaging the options as you found out. Can be tricky finding the exact options you want and get them bundled so you do not have to pay ala carte. And worse when they play around with the discount packages but they all do it to maximize profits.

Ironic that the sales person was "looking out for your best interest" only to get you into a higher priced product. Probably an honest mistake 🙂
