I would think that those wanting to sleep a large number would also want all the room they could get once everyone arose.

as long as you can eat, have enough seating room and sleep in comfort thats the bottom line.
once they all wake, they get kicked out . I always had set up a large tarp to cover our site and large tent that acted as a screen house and dinning area.
Most of time, you are not hanging out inside an RV. A non slide TT with bunks offer that in a lighter weight so it can towed by a 150/1500 truck doubling as a daily driver. The trucks payload gets consumed by all the people and gear being hauled. Therefore you need to save weight and that often the answer is a non slide floorplan with aluminum siding weighing many hundreds of pounds less .
