FOUND!!! FOUND!!! FOUND!!! I am screaming with joy!!

Early this evening, we got a call that our TT was found out in the country hidden behind a barn. I was JUST in that area last Friday!!! The property is owned by a man who lives in Missouri. His brother happened to be there this afternoon to pick up his cattle and saw our TT. He was puzzled and went to check it out. The thief with a 10 or 11 years old boy ran off in a car. The brother then called the police. The police came and identified our TT as stolen. They informed the Olathe, KS, police department, and the detective called my husband at work. He asked me to meet him at his work so I did. We drove 20 miles south to the police impound lot where our TT is kept. On the way down, my husband explained further that the tow driver had to drive very slowly because two slide outs were extended. Yikes! Upon arriving the lot, the moment I saw it, I knew it is ours!! The exterior looked great! No damages but dirty. The police officer said it was from driving on the gravel road. Okay, no problem! The hitch ball lock was gone. Wow...how??? I noticed the lock on our door was white, not black. The thief had changed the lock so he could get inside. It was locked so we were unable to get in. The police officer asked my husband to try to open the storage bin. He did, and it opened. The police officer was satisfied that the TT is ours. I asked for the locksmith and was told we would have to wait until tomorrow because the Olathe police department wants to process our TT for evidence before releasing it to us. I thanked the police officer profusely and hugged him so hard. He told us he thinks he knows who the thief is so we are very happy. On our way back home, while driving, the word, Found, repeatedly went through my mind. I can't believe this! I also wondered what if the brother never came or the cows weren't there in the first place. I am so grateful for the brother. I will go back tomorrow and check the inside (hopefully there will be no damages), wait for the Olathe police department to finish their job, and then bring it home. Oh, yes, we WILL put our TT in a security self storage facility with fences. And, yes, I will buy tire boot locks. I will also check with our insurance agent and see if it would be worth our money to install a GPS tracking device.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers, and wishes. We really do appreciate them very much!! Hugs to you all!!! ๐Ÿ˜„

Believe it or not -- our 2014 Coachmen Freedom Express Liberty Edition travel trailer, model number 305RKDS, which we bought last December 2013, was stolen sometimes between Monday evening (November 10) and early Tuesday morning (November 11) at the truck parking, where my husband works, in Olathe, KS. We had a FEMA travel trailer parked there for three years with no problem. We used a hitch ball lock, but that obviously didn't deter the thief/thieves. We are so devastated, especially me, as our personal belongings are in the trailer. They cannot be replaced ๐Ÿ˜ž

We have already notified the police, KS/MO state parks and campgrounds, our bank, Craiglist, etc. I would appreciate it greatly if all of you would please spread the word about this through any network you may have. The more the people know the better.

Please contact my husband Mark at 913-709-5724 or the Olathe police department at 913-971-7500 if you see our TT.

The sad thing is, the people who stole the trailer could care less about the stress and discomfort they created.

You fret and worry while they just go about their business.

Probably not much of a life for the young boy though.

I totally agree with you. The past two weeks has been a nightmare!

Good luck to you! I understand why you posted the way you did. Think I would have done the same. Did make us work to follow tho. Also felt sorry for the boy, what a life. We had our home broken into and it took a long time to be comfortable.

Did you buy a different TT?

Not yet. We are waiting for our TT to be finished with its thorough check up, being serviced and cleaned up. I will keep you all posted.

I agree with you about the boy ๐Ÿ˜ž

How about posting an update then?
Lots of people wishing you well here.
It has been a while since the news of "it's been found."

Check the new topic regarding the update of our TT ๐Ÿ™‚

Here's the link to her other thread.
I think you are doing the right thing. That stolen trailer would never feel comfortable and would always have the memories of being violated by the thief.
I hope you enjoy your new camper and enjoy it for many years.

The original post is here. I edited the post, moving the original topic down in the subject area. Then I followed up with the update as a new topic I posted yesterday.

We haven't traded our TT in, yet. It is being serviced and cleaned up with a thorough check up. I will keep you all posted.

The saddest part of the story is the little boy that doesn't stand much of a chance being raised by a thief. It makes you realize how lucky most of us are. Things can be replaced. His childhood can't.

Thank you, Bruce, SO MUCH for your faith in me. Sarcasm intended. I DID NOT delete my original post. I only edited, moving the original down further in the message. Guess you don't read well anymore. And I don't appreciate your attitude.

I thought I'd quote the OP here so that this thread will make sense when the OP deletes the original text in their first post. It looks like the OP doesn't intend on returning with an update, but I have a feeling the OP will delete the original text since they have gotten what they needed.
