How many are using a Fumoto or similar? I getting tried of cleaning up after oil changes, what are the issues? I know they don't drain as fast possibly leaving sediment in the pan. Thanks

I guess I'll be the lone dissenter here. I really wanted to use one on our Cummins. All that splash from my first oil change was plenty of incentive to use one. But, I just couldn't bring myself to use one after seeing how open and vulnerable that oil pan area looked to me on our Cummins. I'm sure the odds of road debri dislodging a Fumoto are low. However, I've personally experienced how fast things go south when there's no oil in the engine---just seconds. Anywhoser, once I discovered a 3.5 gallon paint bucket works flawlessly for oil changes, I never gave the Fumoto another thought.
Yeah, I kind of thought that myself since I have a Fumoto valve on my Cummins. But the possibility of something smashing the valve off seemed to be remote enough to not be a worry. I tried using the bucket but still ended up dropping the drain plug in the bucket and had to fish it out. Once was all it took. ๐Ÿ™‚ Of course if I was doing any offroad excursions it would be a different story, but all my driving is on pavement.

I've got Fumoto valves on several vehicles and love them all.

I've used them on 5 vehicles to date and have one on my current truck. They have become invaluable when you do your own oil changes. And have never had a problem.

And the point of "don't drain as fast" is a mute point. And oil will only drain as fast as the viscosity will allow. It comes out plenty fast and could empty my 6.0 PS in less than 5 min.

I'll chime in on this one too. I have them in all my vehicles, except the bikes. They are perfect for pulling oil samples for Blackstone Labs. I always made a mess with the truck because the oil just gushed out and I always dropped the plug in the hot oil.

Me too! I have the version that you can attach a hose to. Keeps the oil off my skid plate. No clean-up. Love it

I have one also - I love the fact that I can drain oil directly into an oil jug. Way cleaner and faster.

I've used them now for about 15 years on all my vehicles, and our son has used them on his vehicles as well. Probably close to 500K miles altogether.

IMHO they are a perfect solution, no issues for us. You are correct, they don't drain as fast as just pulling the plug. I doubt they leave any more sediment in the pan than just pulling the plug.

I've used them on 2 mercedes, 2 duramax's, an s-10, gm van, honda, and a mazda. They go on at the first oil change.

The only thing to consider is if the drain plug goes straight down and is unprotected then don't use the fumoto valve with the nipple on it. Otherwise use the fumoto valve with the longer nipple and slip a piece of tubing on it when you drain.
