GM is ramping up to pump out more 6.2 engines

Sorry don't have a link, but looks like GM is investing 160 million in Spring Hill to start pumping out 6.2 engines for trucks and suvs. High demand for these engines and interest from many tests of towing and mpg put this engine on top time and time again !! corvette pick up !!

I thought the 6.0 started out as a true truck engine in 1999, I'm sure other versions have been created with aluminum blocks, I could be wrong though. They can improve the current 6.0 for trucks and boost power once more with adding direct injection and some other mods. I think that's what GM will do, the 350 was around from 69-2000 plus... So I can see the 6.0 getting some upgrades and still staying the the HD lineup. It seems to be the engine that has been proven over and over again... Glad I got one.

Iron Block.

The 5.7 hemi and the 6.2 are also derated compared to their 150/1500 counterparts.

If they can keep that power cool in a heavy duty setting there is no reason why it won't be up to the task. The 6.0 started out in the Caddys I believe. The 6.2 has a lot of miles under its belt already also.

3.5l Ecoboost is aluminum block and heads. the only f150 engine option with iron block is the 2.7 ecoboost.

No wonder why Ford won't put in their HD lineup. It won't last either.

Just as long as we define specs. Two mocha lattes, three pairs of pumps, some shirts from Macy's, and a pair of pants from Bloomingdales. Maybe a bedcover to prevent dirt from getting in the bed but be careful with passenger weight to not exceed the GCWR.

I don't see the 6.2 in the 3/4 ton. The Duramax D. fills that bill. Patriotgrunt is right though...the 6.2 doesn't do work...it hardly works at all towing within its specs!

🙂 Hi, fantastic that GM has a need to produce more engines; GM also produces a 3.6 L V-6 with twin turbos. Very similar to an Ecoboost. I don't understand your comment about the Ecoboost; I did not read anything to support your comment in this article. :?

Guess he hasn't heard of GM's EcoTec line of turbocharged engines.

Frankly, I love my Ecoboost. I just wish they would offer it in the HD trucks before I decide to jump ship to another manufacturer.

Its a gimmick engine. Why do you think GM uses them in its premium trucks. How many Denali's are doing real work. GM knows they can't put this engine in its HD lineup because it won't hold up. Its a yuppy engine designed for Corvettes.

Never heard the 6.2l, 420 HP, 460 FP Torque referred to as "cute". I don't go to Starbucks. Will visit the mall, only under duress.

I tow a 6500 lb tt in the NC mountain. Some 6% grades over 5 miles and running at 65 on cruise control towing. At that point she is in the power band and its smooth sailing. Yes, premium is required, but thats the price for performance.

Its a cute engine with its aluminum block. Not really made to work and has to use premium fuel but to each his own. I'm sure it does well making trips to starbucks and the mall.

have heard of these engines in trucks that have seen heavy duty use and they can take it quite well . Maybe these engines aren't getting the credit they deserve to handle hard abuse !?? We will see !
