So-called towing capacity is less important than payload. That is the difference between what the vehicle actually weighs (with people, full fuel, hitch components and junk) and the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) on the door sticker. Forget "dry" weights on trailers and go with the GVWR for the trailer. Typical tow-behind travel trailers will put about 12% - 13% of their gross weight on the tongue.
