Have you ever had a weekend start out like this??

Ok, I was so siked for my 3 day weekend & Camping trip. I have been living in the camper in the driveway for the last couple of months cause we ran out of places for everyone to sleep since my son came back from college. Anyway, got ready to start packing the camper up and low and behold, the slide would not come in. GASP!! - Well one side would not move, but one side would. I climbed up under and what do I find??? A bolt had sheared off. Thankfully, I was able to run to Ace Hardware and pick up a new one, and a spare, for 66 cents. So, for only an hours delay, I was able to fix the slide for 66 cents and saved the weekend. If I had to cancel the trip because I couldn't get it fixed, I might have hurt someone..... ๐Ÿ™‚

I bet the RV dealer would charge more than 66 cents for that fix!

yes, memorial weekend, had to move as our slot was up and we had to get to the new one. Our cat hid behind the slide, had to wait two hours to get her out. This was under high 90s heat after the other three slides were in and only had the front two to go and the electric had been pulled (had to reconnect) Once that was over I tried to hook up and lower with the 6pt auto leveling system, it would not retract and had to call a repairman as Camping World does not have mobile service and again it was Memorial Weekend.

Well this weekend we were combining our two loves .... boating and camping. Everything started off wonderful until Sat morning. I heard a bunch of boats out on the water and start nagging the husband to get out on the boat so I can ski. Get the kids on the boat and the boat won't turn over. I fuss about not charging the battery. Charge it most of the day and it never turned over. I don't have a 66 cent fix we'll be taking it to the mechanic later in the week.

There go the 4th of July plans with the boat.

One time I'm all hitched up and ready to go and I notice the fresh water tank drain plug dripping. I reach under and the plug comes out in my hand! Well, the top of it did. I had to unscrew the threads with a pair of plyers, but needless to say, almost all 30 gallons of water had drained. Replaced the plug with one I found in my toolbox and refilled the tank and was on my way.

Another time I'm hitched up and ready to roll and I see this screw sticking out of the trucks rear tire... UGH... Not flat, but no way I'm going to head out on the trip that way. So, we go to the local Les Schwab and they fix the tire and we are on our way less than an hour later.

Yet another time, I get the truck out of the garage and park it in the driveway to get it packed before hitching up. Go to start it and nothing. I smack the starter with a wrench and it fires up. Okay, the starter is bad I think... On the way out, I stop and get a new starter and just take it with us. We get to our destination and all is fine. It even started up a couple of times after that. The next day, we go out and while out and about, it's really slow cranking, but does eventually start... Okay, it's the starter, and we are in town so I take it to a Midas shop to see about getting the starter replaced. They check the system and tell me it's the battery that's bad. Okay, they replace the battery and all is good for the rest of the trip and back home.

But, cranking it over is still not right.. It's still slow and I don't like it. I swap out the starter and it's like a brand new truck! So, it was a combo of the battery and the starter.

Anyway, stuff happens, so you do have to be calm and assess the situation and deal with it and unless it's just a catastrophic failure, it's usually fixable...

um... I understand perfectly both how one more person can make a household run out of sleeping room, and that siked is the phonetic spelling of psyched. Great save on the bolt issue & I hope you had a good time.

MD, I don't mean to be intrusive, BUT, you ran out of sleeping room when your son came home, WTF!
