Help choosing a travel trailer

I am in the process of buying our first travel trailer. I have two models in mind both made by Keystone. I am looking at a new 2015 Keystone Bullet 272BHS for$21046, a 2016 model cost $23600 and the Keystone Passport 2670BH for $23995. I think that both travel trailers have almost identical construction and floor plans. The Passport 2670BH has an outdoor kitchen that my husband love for his beers, and the Bullet 272BHS has two entry doors, one in the front and in the bathroom that I love. I want to take the TT to go snow ski in New Mexico. The Bullet 272BHS has a thermal package and the Passport 2670BH is four season. Which travel trailer is better insulated? Which travel trailer is the best for the money? Which travel trailer has less issues down the road? Which travel trailer hold better value? Please help!!

We had the extra exterior bathroom door on our previous (thanks to a tornado) trailer. Thought we would eliminate a lot of traffic through the main area of the trailer. Didn't happen. Even with the little ones, we hardly used the exterior bathroom door.

I definitely recommend the Bullet! We bought a 2014 Bullet 285RLS and we love it! It is truly an Ultralite ( weighs only 5470 and is 33 ft long! Bullets are lighter than Passports because they use aluminum framing instead of wood... so no rot to worry about and will save you a fortune in gas! however, they have luxurious interiors and many features like the Thermal pkg and double doors. Bullets also have widespread axles for anti sway and easy towing! we have had ZERO issues or malfunctions of all the many systems! We bought a new 2014 leftover last Nov rather than the 2015 same model and saved $5000! just for the model year! Got it new for 19,995! Great deal for a quality TT! Good Luck1

Thanks for the information. The Passports have the same construction as the Bullets.

Northwood, Outdoors, Bigfoot & Airstream are all better quality. I would avoid any trailer sitting on the crack prone Lippert frame, which pretty well narrows it down to those 4 or Lance. Not sure what Keystone uses right now, but they were using lippert. I would ask. What is underneath is 10 times more important than the layout.

see the post in the 5th wheel section. This guy is not alone

It is hard to make choices for others. I like the Bullet brands, having nothing against Passports but just no experience with them. For me an outside kitchen is important and having 2 doors, one into the bathroom is something we like. If the 2015 and 2016 are the same then why not go with the cheaper one. Good luck.

I am kind of thinking of going with the Passport if the dealer drops the price a little bit. I do like that outdoor kitchen. If the dealer does not drop the price, I will just go with the 2015 Bullet.

Something to think about; what do you have to tow with and do you want to buy a TV to tow whatever you buy. If towing with what you have you need to fill it up with fuel and all people and pets that will ride in it while towing and get it weighed. You need total TV weight then each axle and the GCWR for the vehicle. When you look at the RV get the gvwr off it then you can determine if it fits into your TV's weight ratings. I hope this helps

I am towing the TT with a Dogde Ram Laramie 1500 with hemi engine of 5.7 litter 4x4. The truck can tow a TT of 5100 pound easy.

Both those trailers look nice. Only you can decide what is important to you. As for roof leaks and other things.....those can vary. We have a 2006 Keystone Sprinter and have never had a problem with leaks or anything and then you see people on here who have had many problems. We have had no water leaks and all the appliances still work and the only thing we replaced was one of the shades due to an installation problem. I would think the newer trailers are built even better nowadays and we also have a Thermal Package but you still have to be careful in real cold temps with the water lines and condensation inside. Most of the manuals you receive with the trailer will talk about these things and how best to take care of your trailer. You do have to be careful as it is not a house and are not insulated like a house. Good luck to you and enjoy. Also we use our trailer about 4 months out of the year, so it is well used. Still looks like new as we take good care of it.

Thank you for the information. To GaryWT, do you had any major issue with your TT? Like water and roof leaks.
