hitch stop

Is there such a thing as a hitch lock or stop to prevent putting the truck tail light thru the front cap, like I did. Twice... I use and equalizer hitch with torsion bars.

A PullRite hitch solved the problem for me.

That's been the $4k question I've had for years. Especially now with our 32.5' TT. Our F250 doesn't have a short turning radius but it gets pretty close back there. I need to find an area where I can do a full lock 180 so I'll know if I can do a full lock U-turn if I need to some day.

I doubt there is anything on the market that would attempt this.

The problem is that there is too much force going through the connection. Anything trying to stop the turn would just move the force and bend your hitch, receiver or the trailer tongue.

I imagine you could rig up some kind of electronic warning.

Like I said, a longer shank on the hitch. Some people have gotten the longer shank so the tailgate clears a tongue jack.

I think mine may be a bit longer than average but will look into the possibility of a longer one.

A longer shank will greatly improve or eliminate the problem.

Don't be too hard on yourself, it's the dumb bulging caps that should not have been designed that way.

Thanks for the replies. We are all stating the obvious, I know it was a dumba$$ move and I need to be more careful. I have also been towing for years. I just figured I can't be the only one and there had to be something available.

Been towing for more than 25 years and never did that.
Don't turn that sharp. Stop, preposition and start again if necessary.

A longer shank on the hitch? Or maybe a different truck. :B

I have a back up camera. My set up is a normal hitch. Twice while turning around in a parking lot I have cut it too much and the tail light hit the front cap. 2010 Tundra towing a 34" outback 300rb.

A back-up camera comes to mind. A photo of your set up would be handy.
