Host Mammoth - adding rear view camera

For those that added rear view cameras, how did you route the wires. Im wanting to mount the camera at top center just to the left of the slide out. I was considering running the wires on the outside of the camper and using sticky backs and tyraps to follow the edge trim. That's not going to look great but not sure how much headache it would be to run the wires through the inside walls or if it's even possible. Should have bought the prewired camera option.

I have a Bigfoot,
I would like to install one also to keep a eye on my boat but do not like the idea of having my truck lights on all the time.
I was thinking about going across the roof and down the refrigerator
vent like you do with your solar panel wires.

My question is, is there a place to get power from the refrigerator power wires which would be easy access at the opening behind the side vent cover?

My refrigerator is on all the time when on the road and camping.

I actually ran a separate circuit with an illuminated rocker switch, wall mounted so I can energize the cam without having the clearance lights on so I can use it day or night... Just me I guess. My clearance lights are all LED as well.

Host was using a voyager wireless display and camera in 2015. Not sure if that's still the same.

I went with tada brother camera with built in wireless. My clearance lights are LED. They are sealed to camper body, but if you pull lens off you can see perfect place to solder power wires from camera (check palaraty first). I just cut lens cover enough so lens can go back on over wire, than sealed it.

My 7" moniter is mounted almost in floor on front of my center console.

Mount the camera low enough so you can run wiring through the cargo area. Tapping power should be easy off the running lights

In 1997, Pickup trucks didn't have 'displays'.... and I have a real transfer case shift lever too and manual lock out hubs.....

My car has 'Sync. but I don't think my car would carry a camper....

Candidly, I'm not sure I'd want all that 'electronic wizardry' more stuff to **** out as the truck ages... and more expensive to repair too.

I made sure I got the Ford extended warranty on my car, just in case....

I looked at a couple 'wired cams' but I didn't want to have to run wires and attach them to the outside of the camper. The wireless unit I have does the job quite well.

Curious what Host offers as a rear view cam option.

Mine came with a wireless unit already installed but I didn't want to mount the display in the truck. Already have a display (Ford sync) so I went to ford part, bought a replacement camera for the tailgate cam (didnt want to lose my existing cam when not camping) made a housing and mounted it off the slide out awning bracket. Ran wiring externally exactly as you suggested down the back and under the stair frame. Also bought tailgate camera wire harness at ford and cut this in half connecting one end to camera, other end to wire extension cable took other end and plugged it in to connector under Truck by spare tire that normally connects to tailgate cam and ran wire out to meet piece under stair frame. Added two mating connectors to these ends so when I want to unload camper at campground, I just disconnect cable at stairs and one half stays with camper the other attached to Truck. In order to use this with sync display while driving down the highway I bought a Coastal Tech "LockPick Mytouch 2" controller. This allows use of steering wheel buttons to turn on/off. The original wireless camera and display would have been easier and cheaper but...
