How about those after market steps for TT?

Wanted to get some feedback from the forum on the choices of after market steps for our TT.
We have trouble with our steps falling short at some sites (bought leg extensions). One time, we had almost a 12 inch gap between bottom step and ground. We used a 4x4 to bridge gap. My older dog has problems getting up the steps and I actually took a tumble off the steps, broke a toe and am still working out multiple back problems a year later, as a result of that fall. I have to do something before spring and I want steps that are very sturdy, regardless of the terrain.

There are a few different models to choose from and I wanted some feedback from those who already upgraded. Any brands or styles to avoid or recommendations on best to buy would be much appreciated.

The concept looks nice for those that tilt up into the fiver but storing mine in a storage lot I would not have the room to use them.

That's another advantage of the Glow Steps. They don't have that problem

Been using "Glowsteps" for over 4 years now. Works great. Each foot individually adjusts for uneven ground. Even the wife can operate them with no problem.

Good luck.

Lots of positive reviews for the Torklift Glowstep. A friend of mine had one and was really happy with it ... here's his detailed report.

That looks like a good product (thanks for the link, SG!) but one of my pet peeves is having to hunt a product's price on its web page. I usually just assume they know that the price is so hi that it will scare off customers and so I just forget about the product. Totally kills any interest I have.

eta: hey mods, whats up? Even tho I am logged in, I had to do a proof test that I am not a robot before i could post.

I have Glow steps. They are great and work as advertised.
As to the price, you may find a cheaper set of aftermarket steps but you will not find a better set of Aftermarket steps.
As always you get what you pay for.

I don't have a bit of a problem with expensive. I just have a problem having to hunt for the price. Price will never scare me off a good product that I want.

Another happy customer review here:

I liked them so much that when I traded my trailer, I had the dealership swap them to my new rig.

It doesn't matter what kind of step you get, if you travel, eventually you are going to end up in a site that is terribly unlevel and no matter what kind of steps you have, the distance from the bottom step to the ground will be much farther than is reasonably usable.

In the past, we've always had the standard 2 or 3 step fold down on our travel trailers. Many times when camping, we would be at sites where we easily could have used another 2 or 3 steps. We started carrying a step like suggested in the above post. Even then, that was not sufficient in some situations.

I carried a 2 foot step ladder that we used a couple times in years gone by, in addition to the attached steps.

Our current 5er has 2 doors, one one each side of the trailer. It its over 40 feet long, so even slight inclines from front to back of the camp pad makes big difference in the heihgt from the bottom of the trailer to the ground, which can be vastly different between the front and the back of the camper. The steps are no exception, one being near the front, the other being near the back. The fact mine fold down in a fixed length has resulted in some pretty creative temporary step building.

I purchased the longer extensions for my Moryde steps. They help most of the time, but even then, there are those exceptions. When the bottom of the step is still too far to reach the ground, rather than leaving the step dangling in the air, I found another way to support the step so it wouldn't damage the door frame dangling in mid air. But definately, the step was still too high to be used at this camp site.

FYI, the door on the other side, near the front, I had to dig a hole for the step feet.

I suppose what I'm saying is, you probably already have good steps for your camper. No matter what style you switch them over to, you're still going to have the same problem on some campsites, where the distance from the bottom step is just too far from the ground.
